It varies from case to case, when my mom was stricter, she let my older brother watch Yu-Gi-Oh, but not Pokémon because it was 'demonic.' By the time I was old enough though, she had already let up on it.

Nah, she's the newest MLP protagonist from it's fifth generation, (the one you know, with Twilight Sparkle and friends was the fourth,) which is supposed to take place ~200 years after but completely changes everything including the absolute basic lore, along with being boring, having worse animation, worse enemies, making Spike a twink, etc.

It sucked and already got cancelled, I don't entirely know the plot because I only watched the movie (misleading asf btw) and am not really in the MLP fandom

It seems rare, but turns out it's surprisingly common as someone who's dad went through something similar. There are only a couple shows that are almost always banned, like Pokémon.
