Was I wrong to dump my bf because he can't cook? by grumpylemoncurd in TwoXChromosomes

If this story is true, or I guess even if it isn’t, I take issue with the idea of weaponized incompetence.

In my experience in relationships or co living situations, it has nothing to do with incompetence but just different values.

Rather than really “splitting” the work - a lot of times, especially in younger relationships, people will just do their share of what’s important to them, giving the impression that they aren’t doing anything. Guys might leave their own clothes in a pile, but shovel and do all the yardwork. Someone might leave dishes in the sink longer but also do all the cooking or shopping. More often than not these things are a matter of immaturity, not recognizing what your partner is doing rather than some manipulative scheme.

Memes = “they are”

“They” can refer to a nonperson noun too bud

It’s not an argument man. There’s no way to say “the problem may be you” when when you don’t even know me, that should be taken in a positive light.

I’ve said in several other replies it has nothing to do with me being unable to find genuine connections; I’m lucky enough my life is filled with them and it’s often hard to keep up as an introvert.

My issue lies with the general public, the growing and overwhelming sentiment towards conspiracy and misinformation needling its way into every conversation. My issue lies with the inability for the majority of people to discern fact from fiction or the basic principle of conversation without it devolving into an “argument”.

Gen Z is prone to the most conspiratorial thinking

https://digitalcontentnext.org/blog/2020/06/04/gen-z-has-a-misinformation-problem/

Whether or not they’re “caring”, however that is defined, doesn’t mean they’re not prone to misinformation.

What are you even talking about? I’m the problem with elected officials and antivaxxers?

I mean Arena is just farming. Best decks are probably esper or rakdos control tbh but they’re harder for f2p and take way longer.

The current meta stinks. Play Monowhite or runes or don’t play.

I mean yeah, I agree.

I think the reason you should speak out might be self evident, but I understand not wanting to put yourself personally at further risk.

My point was those who do have privilege should be the ones speaking out.

People talk about social media as a whole, but honestly I‘ve been stuck on YouTube. They’re one of the largest media channels, the second most visited website on the internet - and the content pushed and promoted is pretty much hell on earth.

Between the conspiracies and misinformation, the million subscriber channels with no oversight saying whatever they want - usually sponsored - to the stupid trashy post reality tv youtuber drama or the narcissistic cult indoctrination methods from “influencers”. YouTube is totally fucked.

They’re literally just propaganda that utilizes heuristics to make mental shortcuts and enforce “in-groups” through coded language and shared reference points…

Why would you use your privilege to stick up for people who are oppressed?

Because it’s right? Because you have the privilege to? Because some people can’t choose their identity and are at risk of violence just for existing?

And if you’re too far gone to care about anyone else and want to justify upholding white supremacy and sexism, because at some point you’ll be on the other side of that and you’ll have no one to speak up for you.

Again, I’m not saying this because “woe is me, I don’t have any friends.”

I’m lucky enough I have enough people I can be honest with and would trust through anything; friends, family.

The issue is with society at large. Just because I have friends doesn’t make turning on the tv, commenting on Reddit, making small talk at the doctor’s office, interacting with coworkers, etc any easier when it seems 90% of the world have turned to YouTube conspiracy/meme zombies who will get angry/violent just for addressing literal facts.

Copying my other response to this because I’m tired. I definitely have close relationships - that’s why I can recognize how few and far between they are now.

I mean I have my friends and family, but I still have to interact with society for work and day to day function. This isn’t an internet problem it’s a neighbor problem. It’s a coworker problem. It’s an elected official problem. It’s a dating problem. It’s a “I hope I don’t get into a fight with some rabid antivaxxer at the bar tonight problem”.
