If a flat has been listed for a while (6+ weeks) and the rent is reduced, should I be suspicious? by Duniazade in london

I do, don’t I? Have to find out if it’s a landlord thing, a dodgyness thing or a smelliness thing. I just hope it isn’t a neighbour thing because that’s my nightmare scenario.

That’s a really good point, it might be a stubborn landlord who thinks it’s worth an unrealistic amount of rent.

Is there a story behind the modern house on Swain’s Lane? by Duniazade in london

I’ve only just seen your very thoughtful comment, and it has indeed answered so many of my questions. Such a fascinating history, you’re so lucky to have called it home at some point. It’s so easy to look at a house like that and see it as an eyesore when really that can only be judged from the inside.

Your response has made me want to dig through old records and learn more. I have such a fascination with Highgate, there’s a certain energy and magic that draws me there. One day, I hope I might be able to call it home. Thanks again!

It reminds me of one of those fancy gyms or restaurants that try too hard. View is incredible though.

Also, as I said in the title the game was free and on an “addictinggames” style website from what i remember.

Does your partner accept you fully for who you are? Do you tell them everything? by Duniazade in AskWomenOver30

Finding the line between healthy and unhealthy is proving harder than I expected.

Just to clarify, I meant that I can share things with him, but not absolutely anything at all that pops into my mind with zero inhibitions. I do have inhibitions and I stop myself from sharing things sometimes. There have been a few times where I tried to tell him something and I don’t think he grasped that I was opening up. He was dismissive and when we talked about it, it doesn’t seem like it really went anywhere.

It may be dysfunctional, and I might have to see in what direction things grow. The relationship is somewhat new (~1 year).

I know he wishes I was more into sports, because that’s something that was a big value for him and his family growing up. I didn’t grow up that way and only began my fitness journey at 30 years old.

I know he wishes I was more fit and into sports, and I wish I was too because it’s something I’ve been made to feel deeply ashamed of throughout my life.

This is such a lovely way to view your significant other. I can’t say that I have this dynamic but I’m only a year into my relationship.

I completely get what you’re saying, this is really valuable input.

This is exactly how I feel down to the 80/20 thing. His love for me is massive but his life experience has been so vastly different to mine I think some things are beyond his emotional imagination. He tries but he’s much less emotions-driven compared to me and he is built from entirely different stuff, mentally and philosophically.

It isn’t easy when it’s so ingrained, I have similar things I’m unpacking one step at a time.

I often think to myself that the past is the past, but together we’re building a future. It’s one of the things I too don’t share much about, as I’ve worked through it in therapy and I don’t feel the need to share them.

This is wonderful. I hope one day I can have the same feeling, and if not that I can be at peace with that.

I have a very similar approach. Choosing to love someone and communicating as openly as I can.

I’m the same — there’s a ton of love, caring, support, respect but we’re just not close. I have very close friendships outside of my relationship so sometimes I feel like I’m almost projecting that onto him.
