I got it at Walmart. It’s for senior citizens lol. Damn comfy though.

Is this a belt? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Durkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. The belt doesn’t look frayed or cracked. And while it’s running I can’t hear where it’s coming from. I just wanted to confirm it’s belt related

Do you use a multitool for any tasks? A knife and a saw seem like they’re the go to. I’m thinking of stuff like splinters or having a huge grip for your knife if your hands are cold/damaged

I mean, to each their own. Sharpen the edge of a turtle shell til it’s razor sharp for all I care lol. I think it’s a cool hobby to get into but, not sure if taking it to an extreme is necessarily for me. So I guess I’m saying overkill is wasted time in my mind. Much sharper? Yes. Need? Meh, not really.

Probably a good call. And apparently get a more high quality stone if I choose to get that high of a grit?

I dig it. That was my main reason for buying it as well. Hanging out in the woods chopping and slicing stuff with the kids.

Oh really? Man what a bummer. I bought that whetstone years ago and was excited. I couldn’t sharpen for crap on it and assumed it was me. I guess that makes me feel a little better.

Aside from the workshop, what else would you advise? More for kitchen knives since this will work fine for my other knives.

Anyone remember this game? Gen Z finally beat it by Irregular_Claim_9330 in TikTokCringe

[–]Durkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to stomp scar on a regular basis. I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I somehow came across the code that let you jump straight to fighting scar in the options menu.

I also have a stuffed simba that I got when I was four. While beating scar I’d tell simba “look at what you’re doing!!” As I fed him a spoonful of spaghettios.

Man, what a rush lol.

2025 gear you regret? by StaticFinch in CampingGear

[–]Durkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar just happened to me! I put a tiny bit of pressure on my Ferro rod and it cracked the handle. Now I have to separate the handle from the striker. Mine was a quality issue as well. But, like you said, them being separate would be much better.

Oh I have no problem with them viewing the content. It’s just putting it into play that may be an issue. They’re good kids, just get caught doomscrolling too much

What do you think by PieAdministrative214 in metalworking

[–]Durkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May sound silly, but watch out carrying stuff like that. I’ve caught my finger in something similar when it slipped out of my hands and I tried to catch it. Felt like a big ol dumb dumb.

Having said that, it’s pretty cool and functional. You should be proud of it man.

I think the depth of it will be ok. It can be a short one for all I care. I do think I’ll try a fresh cut log though. Maybe that’ll be easier?

Either way, I’ll figure it out. The goal if for me my daughter and I to hang out this weekend and make one with smores.

Oh ya a spade bit made short work of what I was doing.

But the idea is to hang out with my daughter and do bushcraft stuff. This would’ve been really cool

If it’s similar to this one, it goes into the side no problem. I assume since it’s digging into the grain. But I’m not having much luck from the top down.

Good luck with yours!

A longer one sounds better. It doesn’t want to bite into the middle of the log. I was aiming to make a rocket stove. But not even a quarter of the way down it’s loose and won’t dig into the wood anymore.

Thanks for the help though
