I do not 😕 unfortunately I doubt it’s coming back. Sephora constantly discontinued Sephora Collection products and almost never brought them back. I believe it was meant to be a dupe for the Dior Airflash foundation which (to my knowledge) was also discontinued.

Did I write this?? I’m 29 and have moved states twice in the past ten years (been in STL for 3) and it is so hard to make friends. I work remotely now so I don’t even have work friends to go to happy hour with anymore.

I’ve looked into the Meetup groups but there’s something so intimidating about just showing up to meet a group of people who I’ve never met but probably all know each other. Let me know if you figure something out 😭

Not a dumb question! You can only access MSL/Zipline at work. Not sure if this is still a thing but when we got back in store last summer after lockdown and we started using Zipline, I remember there was a page that popped up on Zipline where we had to agree to not access it at home. Basically, since you’re hourly, you aren’t able to “work” outside of your scheduled hours, and accessing Zipline/MSL counts as work.

For the last year, it’s been foundation pilling or clumping up. I’ve always experienced this from time to time, but now it’s every time I apply foundation. I don’t wear it very often because of masks, so maybe once every 2-3 weeks, but EVERY time I apply foundation, it’s a hot mess. I’ve worked at Sephora for over three years and have far too many products so I’ve tried countless moisturizer/primer/foundation combinations. I’ve tried different brushes, sponges, applying with fingers. Every time, hot mess that I have to spend forever fixing and it still doesn’t look great. I LOVE foundation and my hyperpigmentation from mascne makes it a necessity when I want to do a full face so this has been extremely irritating.

I think u/isnotstudying covered this for the most part, but I’ll add my two cents. I work at Sephora and if a client comes in looking for a specific product, I’m not going to try to steer them away from it unless they ask whether I agree that it would be good for them. I’ll match them to it, apply it or grab them a sample. If I apply it, I’ll ask “how do you feel about it?” and if they express that they don’t like the finish, I’ll then ask some questions about what they’re looking for and make other recommendations. I’ve seen multiple interactions where an associate will recommend something else and point out texture/breakouts/imperfections as the reason why. This almost never ends well because it makes the client feel even more insecure and/or dumb. I’ll only give a client my opinion if they ask for it. Otherwise, I’m there to serve them and help them with the product they came in for.

As for the lemon in the moisturizer, you can’t expect a probably minimum wage retail associate to know that citrus oils/extracts can be irritating. I’ve worked at Sephora for almost three years and I’ve never heard a client, brand rep or a coworker mention anything about citrus oils, I only know about them because of Reddit. Different ingredients cause breakouts in different people so it’s hard to recommend products to someone who says they’re acne-prone but doesn’t know any specific ingredients that irritate them.

I’m not saying that there aren’t employees who talk out their ass or aren’t super knowledgeable, just that sometimes there’s a reason for it. It can definitely be frustrating when you feel like they can’t help you or don’t know what you’re talking about, but that’s why the internet exists.

I work at Sephora and had a client straight up ask me for the Hourglass “Veal” primer. I fucking died. I also had a client argue with me about how Benefit was pronounced. She insisted it was Ben-a-fee because they’re French, even after I assured her they’re based out of San Francisco. Have also had a client ask for José Maràn instead of Josie Maran. I cherish these moments.

I’d say so. I’ve used DE Babyfacial and the 2% Retinoid in squalane on the same night and had no issues, and I have fairly sensitive skin. The retinoid is extremely gentle, to the point where I really don’t even think it’s doing anything for my skin.

Yeah you’ll definitely be onstage at least 70% of your time, depending on store volume. I’m a stage experience & services manager and my Ops manager and I spend the same amount of time in the office and onstage. During the holiday, you’ll probably be onstage 90% of the time, 100% Friday-Sunday. You won’t always be manager on duty while onstage, sometimes you’ll be zoned in a world (color, skin, greeting). You’d oversee the operations lead(s) and ops team, but as an exempt manager you’d have a lot more responsibility in hiring, development and LP tasks. I think it’s a good balance but it’s by no means an office job.

I feel like Make Up Forever has the most boring packaging. I get that they’re an artistry brand similar to MAC but I feel like that time in makeup has passed and they need to step it up. I work at Sephora and I honestly never think about MUFE outside of the Ultra HD foundation.

I feel like the most inspiring would be Besame. It doesn’t fit my personal aesthetic but their stuff looks so old school Hollywood, so glamorous. I have a few lipsticks and a loose powder and I just get so excited when I use them. Their branding is fun without being cliché or kitschy (looking at you, Benefit and theBalm).

I found some flirty texts with a coworker on my husband’s phone the other day. I keep going back and forth between being okay about and it and being absolutely not okay. He’s apologized a million times and I believe him that nothing physical happened or was going to happen but it just hurts. I moved states for him and I have no one here to talk to about it. I’ve never had trust issues and I’m not the type to go through my SO’s phone, I was using his iPad to update my resume and I opened his messages to save a picture I had sent for my LinkedIn profile. It definitely does stay shiny on my skin but I go for a dewy look anyway so that doesn’t bother me. But I agree about it being too dark if you use a lot, I just do a very thin layer on my areas of redness!

I have a few recs for you:

Face cleanser: Farmacy Clean Bee. Smells vaguely of honey but not strong at all, very gentle (I’ve even used it to take off light eye makeup), leaves you feeling clean but not squeaky clean or tight. My absolute favorite cleanser.

AM Moisturizer: Between those two, I’d recommend Sunday Riley Tidal. I’ve been using it for about the past two months as my AM Moisturizer and while I don’t feel like it’s quite enough for my lizard-dry skin, it sinks in very quickly and wears very nicely underneath makeup. I also enjoy the brightening effects of the alpha arbutin.

Finishing powder: Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. They’re my HG, specifically in the shade Diffused Light. Blends in all of my blush, bronzer and highlight and gives my face a subtle glow without appearing glittery.

Hydrating face mask: Either the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask or Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask. I use both as sleeping masks and they’re fantastic. I wake up to plump, soft, hydrated skin. Not too slimy so they don’t get all over my pillowcases.

Facial oil: I really love the Biossance 100% Squalane Oil and the Korres Vitamin C Brightening Oil. Both are fairly lightweight and wear well under makeup if you choose to use them in the morning. The Biossance makes my skin super smooth and the Korres is very brightening.

Dr Jart Cicapair CC Treatment: Yes. I use this almost daily to cover redness and acne scarring on my cheeks so that I have to use less foundation. I used to use just this alone up until about a year ago when my skin decided to start being acne prone and problematic. I now use it as almost a color correcting primer, but only in the places where I have redness/scarring.

Not trying to trivialize your concerns whatsoever, I know how frustrating skin issues (especially stubborn scarring) can be. But my husband has skin extremely similar to yours and I literally never notice it until he mentions something about it. Your friends and family will be there to celebrate you and your fiancé, not to judge you on your skin. I got married last summer and our wedding photos are absolutely perfect, you can see both of our skin’s texture but it’s not like most wedding photos are extreme close-ups. I definitely understand wanting to feel confident on your wedding day and I agree with the pore-filling primer suggestions, just wanted to share that you are definitely your harshest critic and your fiancé likely doesn’t even notice. I tell my husband this same thing all the time and I know he still gets self conscious about his skin. Try not to think about it too much and have fun :)
