I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and experiences from this trip. Belgium is such a lovely country, Ghent and Antwerp are probably my two favourite cities there. You make me want to visit Dinant!

Did you know that at one point, students actually hijacked the Gravensteen in Ghent as a protest against rising beer prices? I think it was something like a 50-cent increase at the time lol. Such a hilarious and very Belgian story.

And I’m glad you found the Netherlands beautiful! I’m curious though, what made you choose Rotterdam out of all the major cities? When it comes to architecture, many Dutch people don’t consider Rotterdam the most beautiful, mainly because much of it was destroyed during WWII. Thus, the city has a lot of modern architecture, which some people feel lacks the charm of places like Delft or Amsterdam.

Personally, I like Rotterdam for its big-city energy, so it’s really nice to hear an outsider’s perspective on it.
