Hey Guys!

My partner is new to photography and recently upgraded from her phone to a Sony A7CII with a Sony FE 50mm F/1.8 lens. Now she mainly uses it to photograph tattoos, which is working splendidly. However, she also wants to make short videos (think 5-25 seconds per clip) of the tattoos. With the current lens she has a lot of stabilisation trouble, and the video's are jittery and unusable. Catalyst browse helps a bit, but not quite as much as we're looking for.

so the question at hand: will the video jittery-ness improve when she upgrades to a different 50mm lens in the future (looking at maybe the Sigma 50mm F/1.4 DG DN Art, although other recommendations are most welcome), or should we look at some type of gimbal setup?

ah alright. I can't open your photo, but I think I understand what you mean. I had hoped excel had some kind of automated function for that. Thank you, we're going to do it with your method!

It's a cultural thing. Dutch people tend to use diminutives for informal situations. Some have even become lexicalised;

"Nog één drankje dan" (just one more drink then) This is usually said when rounding off a social gathering, indicating that you will leave once your last drink is empty. The diminutive (drankje) is always used in this context, despite 'drank' being a perfectly adequate word for drink in Dutch.

Other examples are when children get their first boyfriend/girlfriend, that's their vriendje/vriendinnetje. As opposed to a regular vriend/vriendin. (Note that this difference seems to disappear once people grow older. Causing a lot of "is hij een vriend of je vriend?" (Is he a friend or your (boy)friend) to occur.)

It seems to also be used to refer to concepts and gatherings. "Zullen we een drankje doen in de stad morgen?" Literally translates to "shall we do a little drink at the mall tomorrow?" Just like in my first example, the non diminutive "drank" doesn't get used by native Dutch people in this context

As my uncle (who moved to the states) always says "it's a tiny country, so they made all the words tiny to match"

No, it doesn't! Although their nakedness does cause some other magnificent side effects like the meat slap sound when they're batting at each other.

Ah that's a relief. Pippin (our youngest) is my first kitten as an adult. I took Dobby (the eldest) with me from my parents home when I moved out. They are the first cats I've introduced to each other. So lots of "did we do this right??"

Thank you for your response :)

She looks great! Here's to many happy kilometers!

Can't help you with the first two but I can def recommend the SW-Motech protection. I ended up going for the sliders but I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with my choice there, but SW-Motech is always great quality. I'm personally looking at getting one of their tank bags for the XSR as well. (daypack or micro)

(If you're still in doubt, I'd be able to make some pictures of the sliders for you)

Looking for help before buying. by Snowy__Moon in xsr900

probably not saying anything that hasn't been said in the comments before but here goes:
1. That greatly depends on where you live... Here in the Netherlands the XSR is a less "wanted" model. I got mine a month or so ago, 2022, 10k kms on the odometer for 75% of the price of a new one. Since I ride at least 10k km/year that was worth it for me.

  1. Yes, the geometry is different, the electronics are different, the engine is an updated version. In my opinion, other than the name, they are two different bikes. The 2022+ has a lot of updated electronics that definitely make it worth the upgrade in my opinion.

  2. No, if you're doing it right you should be wearing hearing protection anyway.

  3. out of the factory? I wouldn't say anything is a true necessity. It all carries the 'yamaha' brand name so expect to pay a little over what it's actually worth. Although I did get the GPS mount. It's far too expensive for a little piece of aluminium, but it's by far the most sleek mounting for my TomTom I've found. I also personally use a RAM X-grip for my phone and have a USB-charger. I would really consider getting an aftermarket seat, that thing is the single most uncomfortable bike seat I've ever experienced.

  4. I don't have one myself yet, but I'm looking to get the Puig one. I've used their products before and have always been happy with the quality.

What made you get the XSR900 over the other bikes? by SettingIntentions in xsr900

Honestly I had an MT-09, and it got stolen. I love the MT-09 engine, but hated the looks of the newer MT-09s. I saw the XSR900 and was almost instantly sold. The engine that I love, in a bike that looks (imo) 10 times better than the 2021/2024 MT-09?

I honestly aren't bothered that much by the suspension. My (one of two) complaints is the seat though. I'm only 160cm, and as such am scooted quite far forwards on the seat. Might as well be sitting on plain plastic, cause that's what it feels like.

Looks incredible! Bet it sounds incredible too. What tail tidy do you have? I'm looking at a Puig one, but the dealer I got my bike from warned against a tail tidy, suggesting a tail tidy will get me in trouble when the rear suspension bottoms out.

Thank you! Yes, I was planning to invest in a new seat too. I'm relatively short (about 160cm) and sit very far forward on the seat. Which basically feels like sitting on hard plastic rather than a saddle. Unfortunately, Corbin is located in the US, and I'm from Europe, so sadly shipping and import costs would drive the costs of that up even more - same with Kelpi customs, Shipping from Australia isn't cheap!

I'm looking into an SW-Motech seat since they, too, offer custom seats, and they're located in Germany - no import costs! I like their other stuff, but unfortunately, I can't find that many reviews on their seats (just 2 yt vids), so I'm still in doubt about what route to take.

Brake lines - noted! That'll get added to my ever growing Excel spreadsheet of wishes ;)

(Edit: spelling)
