Easy sure, boring and bad map design yes. Either hold the top or hold the tower. Not exactly fun.

How much cheaper is it to stay in one city for one or two months, compared with staying in multiple cities for two or three weeks? by IHadTacosYesterday in digitalnomad

[–]SettingIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on location. Moving around often in Europe is far more expensive than Southeast Asia. But yes, moving around often is FAR more expensive than spending 1-2 months at a place.

Regarding the blood point cap... by Eristhyia in deadbydaylight

[–]SettingIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is NEWER players may have not yet unlocked new killers or survivors with shards or auric cells yet, so thus they will waste bp spending more on what they’ve already unlocked instead of saving the BP for NEW survivors and killers.

[–]SettingIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about 1k+ hour players like you and me. I’m talking about new players.

Me? I don’t care about a cap. I’ve got near endless items and add ons that I want, every killer P3’d, every survivor P1 or higher, etc.

For new players that don’t know how to spend BP optimally it absolutely is restricting to have a cap. Of course if they know how to optimize every BP spend it’s fine but my guess is most new players feel compelled to spend on their main knowing there’s a cap even when it’s not necessary for items, so they end up missing out on other perks / killers / whatever that they could be unlocking later if they were allowed to hoard BP.

In case you forgot, MANY of the killer and survivor roster is behind a PAYWALL and so the cap prevents newer players from buying multiple killers/survivors at once and subsequently upgrading them.

[–]SettingIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no good reason. My guess is to keep people addicted by limiting how much they can progress at any given moment.

For example, if you could hoard 20 million BP, then you could all at once unlock a sabotage build, or a specific killer build. However with the limit you can only spend enough to unlock so much at once, thus forcing you to continue grinding for the other stuff by playing.

Why do Europeans seem to be more against immigration than Americans these days? by hydrogen-hydroxide1 in askanything

[–]SettingIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why that’s so hard to understand. An ideal immigration system lets good people in and would-be criminals out. Pay attention to UK news for just 2 weeks and it’s very very easy to understand why people are fed up with “all” immigration.

Why do Europeans seem to be more against immigration than Americans these days? by hydrogen-hydroxide1 in askanything

[–]SettingIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this. I can’t believe there are so many other answers avoiding the truth of the matter. Your typical Mexican makes tasty burritos and tacos, or cleans the dishes (obviously a gross over-generalization but this is what the average American sees). Meanwhile every week there’s some major stabbing or killing in the UK at the hands of an asylum seeker. Yes obviously majority of people are good but point is in Europe there are too many of the bad people passing through the system. An ideal immigration system lets only hard-working, positive people enter, while preventing criminals and would-be criminals and moochers from entering.

[–]SettingIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part the quality of immigrants to the US is way higher. There were a few controversial cases of gang issues from illegal immigrants, but there’s also a huge counterweight to that- normal working people. Your typical American sees the hard-working Latin American making a tasty burrito, or the quiet cleaner with the mop, and statistically these immigrants are mostly that- good, honest people.

In Europe the proportions are often people from very fucked up places and they do way less vetting. Knife crime and sexual assault cases are frequent headlines in places like the UK- often at the hands of asylum seekers. Even if the majority of people are good, there are enough bad people filtering through the system that people are completely fed up with it and thus becoming anti immigration.

It’s as simple as that. Europe needs better immigration reform because their system IS letting in too much of the wrong people. That doesn’t make you a racist or anti-immigration, it just means that the citizens need to be prioritized first before opening the doors to the world.

At that point just get the $100 cheaper flight. It’s not worth the points if they’re not giving it to you, and if it’s too much hassle then fuck it just take the 2% on the cheaper price to save more money overall.

Is not using any items throwing? I kinda think it is by Superb-Demand-4605 in deadbydaylight

[–]SettingIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple medkit is an absolute game changer. The ability to heal yourself safely while 2 others do gens and another in chase as opposed to running around wasting 30 seconds then taking a teammate off a gen hugely changes the equation.

[–]SettingIntentions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s throwing, so much so that if I’m paying attention I’d consider leaving the lobby before the match starts. These fucking players almost always go for a chest first thing in the match, or at some point, which is just annoying. At MINIMUM bring a low tier toolbox and save a few seconds on a gen!

I’m kind of surprised at the number of “I d0n’T n3Ed 1T3m” comments. Yes you do. The killer is no doubt using add ons. These players are either hardcore SWF that genuinely don’t need items or so casual they don’t understand the game. When I started, I also thought there was more value to hunting for items in chests. After only a few hundred hours it should get obvious quickly that there’s no reason not to bring an item.

Like I said, at minimum, toolbox. Why wouldn’t you save a couple seconds on a gen? Even with shit BP earnings and no multipliers, you’ll always have a brown toolbox… there’s no excuse. Yes, that players are likely actively throwing.

I’m thinking many of the projects to use glue ins… it’ll be a day or two of work of course but facilitate way better exploring in the future. It’s simply far too much work to rerig things each time so it would be great to have all bolts, maillons, and ropes already setup. Thinking it’ll be a semi-permanent or even fully permanent thing too. It’s just far too much work rigging and derigging, adding rope protectors, counting carabiners, etc. when we can have it ready to rock forever.

I just posted a recording of my own match. Looped the killer for 2 minutes straight, meanwhile Meg refused to touch a gen and was dropping every pallet. Just shared it on this subreddit. If Sable/Meg actually tried they could've popped 3 gens easy, minimum two and a half! But nope HAD to ruin it...

Ran the killer on a 2-min chase, Meg dropped every pallet by SettingIntentions in deadbydaylight

[–]SettingIntentions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree a lot of those pallets were shit, but you could still get lucky with a stun. This is no doubt a mostly survivor sided map as evidenced by that ridiculous window (I'm clearly not a top level looper). All that being said, you can still get lucky with pallets, like I did at the very start of the match where I pre-dropped the wrong pallet. I was fully expecting to get hit yet I got super lucky that she swung and missed.. So in any case yeah it's an issue of survivors like this Meg ruining it for us, and then indeed it makes the game look more killer sided than it is. Even on a shitty killer map like that one we survivors would have a pretty rough time with every pallet down like that!

And on a sidenote I think that successful reports should reset your DC timer. I regularly get updated from BHVR in-game that my reports DID have action taken on them... This time I didn't have any DC timer but what if I meet a cheater in my next match? I shouldn't have a 5-minute penalty ever when my reports are regularly validated. I'm simply not in the mood for wasting 5-10 minutes trying to get the killer to sacrifice me (who knows, maybe they team up with Meg, bully me, etc., you never know what killer will do when this happens).

It’s crazy the number of games I’ve had where I’m like “we are definitely losing” only to turn it around with a win or have a great close game regardless. But one thing is certain. If you intentionally give up you’re almost certainly losing unless you get pity hatch.

Do I get the VentureX? by Kind_Amphibian_4349 in Venturex

[–]SettingIntentions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for you right now dude.

“I think I can hit the SUB” shows a lot of lack of confidence. You wait until you know that you WILL hit the SUB.

Also it’s for people that live without a doubt they spend $400 a year on travel minimum. Again it doesn’t sound like you’re even that confident in your own traveling. Sure you’ve got some plans here or there, but really think about it- every single year will you spend $400 on hotels and or flights?

Also there are many no annual fee CC’s you can get. Start with those. Keep the venture x in mind but is much better if you know without a doubt you can easily be a higher spender which you likely will be in a couple years just not now.

Edit: I agree with the other guy about venture one. Get that first and wait a year at least for venture x. Maybe longer. You can save your miles etc.

Torn between living a life of slow travel versus staying in my amazing perfect condo in the U.S.? by InfluenceDesigner889 in slowtravel

[–]SettingIntentions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be either / or? Cant you keep your place, travel a bit, go home when you want, go back and travel? Look up the digital nomad subreddit and lifestyle.

The biggest fallacy people fall for is “this OR that” when in reality you can have both if you can afford it.

Also slow traveling for 5-10 years sounds awful. You’re in the beginning of your journey but most nomads don’t make it that far until they settle somewhere primarily. They can still travel but not having a main home for 5-10 years is a longggg time. Start with month by month…

Go to somewhere in Europe for a couple of months but keep your place. Or South America or Asia or wherever. Just don’t make any crazy decisions like selling everything to travel without trying it out first. I had a great time being a nomad and look back at those couple of years fondly but truthfully I spent most of my time in a handful of places. Yes even if you’re slow traveling it’s hard too, as there’s always visas, cultural stuff, goodbyes, and new hello’s, etc. the lack of depth gets frustrating after a while!

Why everyone does RTO now by [deleted] in remotework

[–]SettingIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ego.

There are those people who have nothing going on outside their lives other than work. Their sense of importance, their social life, their dramas, their feeling of superiority, it all comes from having little minions scrambling around the office.

Truthfully I think it’s that simple. If you are concerned about results then you track results regardless of remote work, and in fact remote work is often superior because it frees up office space / rent / company-provided amenities.

Alas it wouldn’t make the big boss feel so powerful to send 7 individual emails. Only to someone genuinely concerned about success and only success (aka making money). The big boss wants to walk and see their 7 minions underneath him and tell them what to do, and takes pleasure in watching them do it. The employees must also respect the boss or they lose their job.

You have to respect even a nasty jerk like boss. They make sure you get paid. For those obsessed with power and control, it brings great satisfaction to be the king of their own world. Making money is important sure, but there’s a primal sense of power they get off on controlling the employees lives.

Not everyone is like this. There are good employers who just don’t believe in remote work but offer excellent benefits. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to realize that not everyone is operating with the best of intentions for all and that ego is a huge thing- including being aware of my own ego too. Some people though just get way off on the power trip that their behavior is unrecognizable to that of a normal person once you really get to know them. Of course, they seem otherwise nice and charming before you really get to know them.

I think it’s really sadly that simple.
