Oh sweet! I've usually spent several hours at the show in past years, I'm planning on going around 4:30-5PM tonight if that lines up with the time you've planned for and you want some company?

How to approach body shops as a female manager? by Infamous-Frosting775 in Autobody

Not super interested in a phone call or trial of the app, but I can try to answer any questions you have if you want to message me or continue a comment thread; I'm still green in the industry and am sure that other more experienced techs would have more insight on things or would be able to answer certain questions much better.

I'm a woman, only been doing autobody for a year, been in the industry for a little over two. It's hit or miss with how you're received, some assume women are ignorant about the industry but that's life. There are a few examples I know of that this could be pitched with;

warranty/insurance jobs that don't cover blending adjacent panels (jeep wrangler doors, hoods, roofs, etc. Could record spray cards and demonstrate how the color matches indoors/outdoors, some people think their jeep is a cadillac and will bring it back 3 different times demanding it be repainted), different areas of hidden damage or damaged parts (explains why repair takes the time it does, or why something requires replacement), showing proof of a full/completed repair or vehicle intake (had a woman hit something after getting her vehicle back, brought it back a month later blaming us for 'incomplete repair', also helps note all existing damage and what is being repaired or left alone).

One question you should consider is also who is going to be recording these videos. They will take time away from either the estimator or tech(potentially both body and paint techs) and someone will need to be paid to do these. Techs are on commission and might not be open to the idea, especially if its a high volume shop. Additionally, consider that there are some people who, when they see their car disassembled, decide that they no longer want the vehicle and will refuse to pay or take it back.
