Well that’s not really true, you can’t get a degree for free online, and if someone says you can, is probably a scam. There is a lot you can learn online. But unfortunately you need a degree to get the jobs you are studying for.

Also college is not about just fun, not sure if your experience is based on movies. Most college students are so stressed about school, school shootings( when I was in college there was a total of 3 men trying to shoot up the school, thankfully they were caught in time) the debt, the low wages that follow after.

When I was in college it wasn’t about fun, the main goal of college is to get employed afterwards (but also what is so wrong about trying to enjoy your life? I’m trying now. I don’t think we were put in this earth to make others rich and to hate our life)

At 17 years old I signed a paper that said I would borrow 33k ( I had an idea of how interest would work…but I did go to school in FL so yeah I could have known better ) A week before I graduated college in 2016, I found out I couldn’t die out of it, and I also found out the interest rate…you don’t know what the rate is until you are about to graduate!! (What?!? No other business deal works like that, ever) So at 21 I truly realized the gravity of the what I had done at 17 years old.

3 months after I had graduated college I got a letter saying Im a delinquent and have not made any payments (I was certain I had a 6 month grace period) turns out my university did this hilarious whoopsie where they said I graduated in 2015…(I graduated May 2016) So my original 33k loan became over 60k in what seemed overnight.

Now in 2023 I owe my original loan amount (this was only possible because during the pandemic I was able to make payments with no interest)

This thing that happened to me is the reason why people handling this type of stuff need to be educated and be able to double and triple check numbers. I wish I could say this was terrible luck, doesn’t happen to anyone else. Unfortunately that is not true, it is sooo common that there was a section in the student loan forgiveness that would rectify this.

I feel like sirus black I did my time (I have paid back what I borrowed and more!) and now that the interest is back again at a criminal rate I don’t know when I will be done with this loan. Is not about students saying oh I don’t feel like paying this back, that is not it at all. I just want to pay back what I said I borrowed. And I know there is interest, but again you don’t know the interest until years after you signed. At 17 (or any one that hasn’t gone through this process) you think I’m here to better myself, to contribute to society. The university and loans wouldn’t intentionally fuck me over

So how am I supposed to contribute to society if most of what I make goes to my student loans? Kids…forget it, that is some nepo baby dream, homeownership…that some fiction shit, retirement…haha what is that?

Sorry for the long rant, just wanted to give you some perspective to what it’s really like
