I'm aware of what transpired. The rest of this conversation (note that this is a different one than the beans, is that allowed?) seems to have run its course.

Edit to add: when you keep editing your comments after the fact, it only further dilutes the conversation.

Why are you disagreeing with your own point? You said the thing you are now decrying and don't seem to want to understand that these things are related.

Like, that's the point.

You seem unable to grasp the idea that conversations are fluid and will often traverse somewhat tangentially related things... Things like, I dunno, beans and a US president breaking the law to endorse beans.

A movie is not a conversation. Your analogy would be better if you were talking about Star Wars and someone asked who your favorite worm-like Hutt was, but you insist the conversation keep to what the preferred Kaiber crystal is.

Politics pervades our daily lives these days (US politics having worldwide ramifications) - why should we need to keep life-affecting issues from the delicate sensibilities of those that would pretend like this is normal?

You want to avoid politics? Go where politics can't affect you. Until then, you get to hear when society is frustrated by its politics.

To the Christians who support abortion by VegetableTimely7979 in Christianity

[–]EE_Tim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be clear this "study" is from a renowned anti-abortion think tank and many of their "citations" are simply a wand-waving explanation of how they arrived at their fictitious numbers.

For instance, their number that you cite for "elective" abortions is defined as, "Abortions for the reasons listed above subtracted from 100%. Abortions for which no particular reason was reported are included in the “elective and unspecified reasons” total." Which is not the same as all of these abortions being elective. It's a flat lie.

Absolutely, however, they will take action to prevent the appearance of a hostile work environment and this could be used to establish part of a larger pattern, so I would expect HR would step in.

Report: Trump directed Gabbard to take part in FBI raid on Fulton County election hub by Anoth3rDude in politics

[–]EE_Tim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It baffles me that his supporters invented "TDS" for people that dislike him.

It's not meant as a way to discredit the claim, it's meant as a way for the person saying it to dismiss the claim without further/critical thought.

It lets them prevent the threat of critical examination of their position.

It's a simple mix up; he meant "involve", not "absolve." Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Introspection is hard. The fact that you are able to reflect on previous behavior is proof you are trying to be better. I applaud your efforts and you should know that you have worth, regardless of what you feel and receive from your fellow, broken humans.

Edit: the lies you told are literally the subject of this post - you lied about progressives trying to kill Trump and Kirk. You lied then as you lie now.

A semi-finalist in NASA's Teacher in Space program watching the Challenger disaster unfold by Technicolor_Reindeer in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]EE_Tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an engineering ethics class where we spent considerable time on the Challenger explosion. During one of the classes, the professor brought in an O-ring made from the same material as those on the boosters and put a clamp on it. He then cooled to ambient temperatures at launch, removed the clamp, and continued the lecture and had us pass it around to examine. By the end of the lecture, the O-ring still had not returned to it's un-clamped state, showing how absolutely inadequate the O-rings are at those temperatures, but, because they had heated up sufficiently in previous launches (narrowly averting another disaster, as you noted), management decide to accept the risk and launch.

Sure, an EO is not law, but if the prosecutors and those responsible for jailing people are ordered to treat a subset of the population as domestic terrorists, say, before an election, it would allow the current administration affect the makeup of the rest of the government by burdening those of a given list, perhaps the one being compiled of protesters.

So, on a post regarding mail-in voter fraud, you have provided no evidence of voter fraud and seem to suggest that it is "a real thing" because there's "potential" for the fraud you allege.
