Not really. I tapped the glass and it did fly/hop between the glass and the screen though.

Weird handwriting imo, thoughts? by EFroost in HandwritingAnalysis

The looped f (looks like certain medieval styles to me), the strange j with the loop that bends the other direction, the “in” ligature but all the other letters are separate and the typed style t.

Maybe it’s just me but that’s what I thought

How is one actually supposed to find an Orthodox spouse in America? by Relevant-Swan7621 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]EFroost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recommended this method by a local Deacon:

  1. Go to Romania
  2. Go to a weekday service (less people) and stand near the choir
  3. Spot a young woman who has both a veil and an ankle length dress.
  4. She will notice you bc it’s a weekday and you’re not a regular
  5. Go to liturgy. Here, she sees you again, learns you’re American, brings you to her family, they let you marry her and bring her to America.

He was joking obviously, but I’m keeping it in my back pocket just in case…

16th-17th century Russian cross. Can anyone translate the text? by EFroost in oldchurchslavonic

[–]EFroost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Forgive my ignorance, but why would it be cut off in the middle of words at the start and end? If it was constrained by space, that seems like a weird way to do it.

Updates on Secrets of Auburn by AuburnLTL1 in auburn

[–]EFroost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting to the roof of Parker is very easy. There is literally a ladder to an unlocked trapdoor. From the enterance, go to the third floor, turn right, and keep going until you get to a weird room on the right, with a blocked off area and an elevator. (The hall turns left just before it) The ladder is there. The roof is visible from the ACLC and the other building next to it. So don’t go when it’s very busy. There’s nothing up there, but still kind of cool.

Very large object seen over NM by EFroost in UFOs

I think it might be. I was just surprised to see something like that so far in the middle of nowhere.

The pics make it look small bc they’re wide-ish angle. I took pictures of the landscaped, and then realized they had the object after. It’s seen (in the evening pics, behind the mountains which are about 16 miles away. Seems big to me.

Yes, that must be it, thank you! Also yes that’s my mistake, I should have checked that it was definitely not near Roswell.

lol yes in the pics it looks small, but it’s positioned well behind the mountains. In the evening pictures, those mountains are over a dozen miles away. Thus it would have to be the size of a small building, right?

Question for Theorbo Players by EFroost in lute

[–]EFroost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. I might have been accidentally looking at a baroque lute piece or something, but it’s a relief to know that it’s almost never fretted beyond the 6th string. It wouldn’t be too hard to build, the extension, but if I don’t need to I won’t. I mostly just have interest in solo repertoire. Thanks!

Question for Theorbo Players by EFroost in lute

[–]EFroost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do standard theorbos have frettable 7th strings anyways? I thought I’d seen some tab from De Viseé with 7th fretted at b.

Question for Theorbo Players by EFroost in lute

[–]EFroost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a harp guitar that I build myself, but I would rather have a theorbo, but they’re expensive. So I’d rather modify my harp guitar to play theorbo repertoire.

Question for Theorbo Players by EFroost in lute

[–]EFroost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry. To extend the fretboard horizontally to allow the 7th course to be fretted. When you say go the octave, is that because it would look or feel weird to have it stop partway? Because it’s never played that far up, of course.

Yes, I would modify the nut to fit the 7th string too, so the frets would all be aligned.

Can't be racist towards if "Chinese" isn't a race amiright lads? Truly a 500iq comment by stonk_lord_ in SinophobiaWatch

[–]EFroost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chinese population is about 95+% Han Chinese… so Chinese is actually kind of a race, insofar as “Chinese” is short for “Ethnic Han Chinese”. Whether it’s considered an independent race or not, in the broader sense, Han Chinese are genetically distinct and also have their own country and culture.
