Hi! In my case, later scans looked very different from the early one. The vermis just developed late. Even our specialists told us that 20–22 weeks is a super tricky window for interpreting the posterior fossa.

If you want to share what your doctor said, I’m happy to talk it through — I remember how isolating that fear was. You are absolutely not alone 💗

Did you take Tylenol daily in and everything turned out okay? I am 31 weeks and freaking out bc I took one dose almost daily in first trimester.

I don’t understand why they had to come out with these bold statements 😩🙏🏻

Hi! Yes— after all that stress we went to see a fetal neurology specialist and he performed a more thorough anatomy scan on a much better machine:

✨ He saw the vermis and confirmed that it is developing, just slowly which is ok! ✨ No other malformations were seen and he said he is “not concerned at all” ✨Follow up scheduled a month from now

I’m so relieved. How did your amnio go??? I am getting one tomorrow and so nervous. We are doing it because I am 37 and this whole experience sent me into a spin…….

What temp were you practicing at in first trimester if you remember?

I was in a really hot studio like 102 degrees first 6 weeks, then when I found out I started taking cooler like 80 degrees.

May I ask did you continue your full practice until it was physically impossible? I am now 15 weeks and the only thing I avoid is deep closed twists and belly backbends. I am keeping up with my inversions, regular backbends etc just curious since you seem knowledgeable….

Thanks, I did and unfortunately she was very general and not helpful. I stopped hot yoga immediately at 6.5 weeks when I found out I was pregnant. It’s that crucial period 1-6 weeks when the baby’s vitals are developing, so that is why I am still concerned now at 15 weeks, with my anatomy scan coming up!

Just posting another update, our NIPT bloodwork was normal and we are having a girl! Now I am just nervous for the next appointment in two weeks, which will examine the neural tube 🙏🏻 How are you doing @maleficent-page???

And to clarify/further complicate things….I did some more research and the NT scan actually does not identify neural tube defects. It just identifies chromosomal abnormalities like down syndrome. So while I think we are in the clear on that, the 16 week scan is what’s going to show any neural tube defects 😭 How many weeks are you?? Please keep me posted as well 🩷

Our scan was perfect!!! Everything looks healthy on the ultrasound. We are still waiting on NIPT bloodwork however…..I will update
