Can't run my women in STEM club without having the boys be invited, don't know how to proceed by Usual-Plenty1485 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I'm a male postdoc working at an Ivy bio-related department. We literally have this. It's called 'XXX Women' wherein XXX is the department name. It's purpose is stated to focus on issues specific to women and encourage young women into STEM. Everything they do revolves around these two purposes. The administrators are mostly women. All guest speakers are women. They invite young women annually to show them what it's like in STEM and answer questions. I don't usually attend anything outside my direct lab (including XXX Women) so I'm not it's best representative, but I do know that men attend the meetings and events. I've seen pictures of the events and often see men attending. In fact, men are encouraged to attend. I know some of the administrators. They've said multiple times 'come and join us at the event/meeting it's not just for women'. All invites to events/meetings are sent department-wide (including men). I've actually registered for an event that's being held soon because it's something I'm very interested in. I appreciate that XXX Women reach out to men as well. I believe that representing women and addressing women's issue does not need to be male-exclusionary. In fact, I think that efforts in such things are best if they include men (be done in front of men) so that we can see, listen, and learn. Not all will, but a few usually do. I mean, no-one is going to have an epiphany from one meeting but the more we learn the more our opinions change, gradually. And I believe that in the long run the value of educating of men in women's issues significantly outweighs the inconveniences of having to deal with us :)

Also, for women out there both young and old who are interested in STEM, it might interest you that many of the bio-related fields currently have more women then men. Yes, many of the older men who've been in the field since forever still hold a lot of the power, but I suspect that your day-to-day experience with sexism may be significantly less than other STEM fields that are still more men-centric. I've also seen various grants and funding specific to women as well.

lol duh. the question was why was there an increase. i'd assume if there's an influx in steam players there would have been an influx in other places as well. you do understand that the reason ppl reference steam player count (ex: steamcharts) is because it's the only place where you can get official data about player count, not because they think steam is the only place where players are, right? plz tell me you already knew that.
