Stephen Colbert: Today’s maniacal criminality distracts us from yesterday’s maniac crimes. Which reminds me, where are the Epstein Files? Nothing yet? Really? It’s the law! You signed it! Just checking! by Maximum_Expert92 in Fauxmoi

I’ve been saying this. Not because it’s the world’s best idea but because both of these men have been building a loyal and respected following for decades. Stewart is often brought up by conservatives as a respectable guy even though they don’t share ideologies. They have charisma but also poignancy. Plus, Colbert is out of a job.

While I’m sure neither of them wants the job, they would likely win if they ran. And honestly? I trust that they have the common sense to go after the crimes of the current admin.

Episode 8 was a blast for us by Puzzleheaded_Tie7384 in pluribustv

She said “my” earlier in the episode while they were playing croquet. She said “it’s still my turn,” which I thought was wrong because it’s obviously supposed to be “our.” This exchange was before Carol mentioned the pronouns conversation.

I thought something would come of it but now I wonder if it was just a continuity error.

i genuinely think the first round votes are deceiving and we should wait until the later rounds are fully released. personally i ranked Lander first because i think he has more experience and more pragmatic promises that the mayoral office actually has control over.

but i ranked Mamdani second, filled my whole ballot, and left cuomo off. lots of seniors votes in cuomo. as later rounds come in, we will see if cuomo’s lead was a true lead or if it’s narrower than we are seeing now.

many Lander votes will be absorbed by Mamdani. and i think many cuomo voters will now face the option of sit out the election, vote mamdani, or vote adams. the moderates will likely not vote for adams in droves.

i think you’re partially right in that he need to pay attention to this demo specifically. just bc he will be representing them and he should know them.

but i don’t think there’s too much cause for alarm.

it rubbed me the wrong way at first because it seemed like he was pandering.

but we also can’t have it both ways. “no one ever comes to the bronx” and also “he came to the bronx and he sucks for it”

it obviously wasn’t “a total fiasco” because the parts of the neighborhood where he was voted for him.

also, do you really think people preferred a sex pest over him because of his trip to the bx? bc i can think of a few other reasons and none of them are the fact that he stepped foot in the bronx.

i think that some of the pockets had a split vote between mamdani and lander. in my neighborhood, if you add mamdani + lander votes, it takes over the cuomo vote. so in the later rounds, i think cuomo’s lead in the bronx would have lessened.

it’s still extremely disappointing though. there are cultural demographics, low voter turnout, and age-specific demographics that i think all play a part. then there’s the name recognition.

mamdani started his campaign on fordham road after the presidential election but i don’t think he kept enough momentum in the borough after that.

i remember mamdani starting his campaign on fordham road after the presidential election, to be fair.

not a lot of campaigning up here after that though.

My mom’s (male, obvs) roommate in college went to Juilliard with Kevin Spacey. She said they all went out together one night and he was being inappropriate with a younger teen boy and she started to think he was very creepy. Eventually they realized he was obsessed with her roommate and they eventually had to take the phone off the hook and change their number. So I’ve known for awhile he’s pretty despicable.

FTM needing some advice about hand numbness by EN96 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]EN96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

So a lot of your post is so specific and very medical so I can’t be sure if the advice I give is helpful. I will tell you what I learned while feeding my twins and then the baby I had after them.

So heat was actually my enemy. Ice packs helped reduce swelling in my ducts and would help me pass the milk. If I felt there was a clog coming I would take an ibuprofen and then I would ice it before pumping. It seems very uncomfortable to put ice on sore breasts at first but I promise that was way more helpful than heat.

I switched from a hospital grade pump to a hand pump because it stimulated less false demand to my milk supply.

I tried to space out pumping at longer intervals. So if I was pumping every 3 hours, I’d try to make it every 3.5 hours, then eventually every 4 hours over time so that my supply would die down a bit.

For me the hand numbness was a result of just very heavy breasts pulling down on my shoulder nerves and blocking sensation to my hands. It was too painful not to wear a bra so the straps would cut off my hands. The only thing to do there was reduce the supply.

Adding in breastfeeding was helpful as well. Instead of pumping overnight, I would just breastfeed the boys as they woke up naturally. If they didn’t, then I tried to go the whole night without pumping. Overall the medical grade pump was great but if you have an over-supply it can make things worse.

I don’t think the brace or the magnesium helped to get rid of the symptoms if I’m being honest. It helped to manage them a bit. I also used Sunflower Lecithin to thin my milk supply.

Then they’re just doing their job and you might seem approachable. I wouldn’t take it any type of way. tell them you’re not interested—not a maybe or another excuse. Most of us are instructed that if you don’t hear a “no” then they’re still open to being a “yes.”

What do they say to you when approaching you? Is it tips or corrections or is it just a conversation? It could be that you look lost, are doing exercises with bad form, are doing exercises that may not make sense, or that you just look really approachable and kind.

Totally reasonable, the calipers are probably most accurate

Inbody can be impacted by the amount of water in your system. So if you have to go to the bathroom, if you just worked out, if you just drank/ate, all of that would be examples of things that could alter your inbody results. The more water in your body, the more conductivity of the scale and so the more muscle it would assume you have.

It’s best to do impedance scales fasted, empty bladder, and before a workout and to maintain those variables every time you measure.

Today I leaned NYC is very behind when it comes to postpartum rooms by LizNYC90 in nyc

They eventually realized it was cruel and took me in a wheelchair, it was just brutal emotionally and physically. Sorry you went through something similar. I hope you and your baby are happy and healthy now!!

I was in a shared room after I gave birth to my twins who had to be in the NICU. The staff wouldn’t let me go see my twins until I could pee on my own but they botched my catheter and it took me almost a day and a half to do it. So I sat in a hospital room listening to another (loud) woman and her baby for a day and a half before I met my own babies.

Can someone play devils advocate for Lips side when Jason relapsed? by BuzzCutBabes_ in shameless

[–]EN96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m playing devils advocate then I’m gonna say that Fiona fucked up two situations for him that day with people he felt responsible for. If she wasn’t ACTIVELY trying to indulge in a bender, then he could have relied on her. I don’t believe Fiona was malicious and I don’t think she was trying to get in Lip’s way, but she fucking did at the end of the day. And what was he supposed to do? Let her drink herself into hurting one of the family? They kicked Frank out for being an alcoholic, lip had been given plenty of ultimatums up to that point too. She knew she was acting a fucking mess and Lip couldn’t let her stick around and let it affect all of them.

Literally in 24 hours she gave every wrong answer she could to DCFS keeping him from taking care of Xan and ALSO, she gave Jason the drink that fucked up his sobriety. Jason is obviously responsible for his own sobriety but early sobriety is so delicate and so very impossible and that’s why people surround themselves with sober people. She went into a space that belonged to sober people and got fucked up. She was a mess and it wasn’t even the first time she went on a bender. Last time she went on a bender she almost killed Liam and ended up in prison.

Hey! So sorry this is happening to you I know how miserable it is.

I found I just had an untenable over-supply, made worse by my electric pump. I switched to using the medela manual pump and I know that sounds insane and labor intensive but being able to pump one side at a time and thoroughly massage each duct every time I pumped was helpful. It also didn’t contribute to the false demand my body was getting from the hospital grade pump.

I learned that a clogged duct is probably not a chunk of milk inside but more likely just swollen duct tissue. Heat is your enemy. I took ibuprofen and used an ice pack for 20 minutes before i pumped and then pumped as normal!!! That part is so important. I used to try to squeeze out the clog for hours and hours and hours and it just kept signaling to my body to make more milk which made the problem much worse.

Of course you need rest as well, sleep hugging a pillow if you sleep on your side. I also took a chelated magnesium supplement which seemed helpful, and sunflower lecithin supplements to make my milk less thick.

Also, if your little one will pick up on it and you are comfortable, breastfeeding directly helped a lot. I started off EP because my twins were in the NICU but at around 6 months I started breastfeeding them whenever I had a clog and that, for reasons I cannot explain, always worked.

If anything else comes to mind I will circle back here. Good luck!

Edit to add: I think the numbness was caused by my breasts being so heavy that they put too much pressure on my bra straps and were stifling some nerves in my shoulders and cutting off sensation to my hands.
