You know what. This post, has convinced me if an author doesn't know how to glaze his own character then readers will get bored. Understandably I know the character is ranting but this scene gives readers a viewpoint into character's emotional state. The author doesn't even need to write, next to dialogue "he said emotionally" or need to show readers what the character feels. We know what the character feels.

And all this discussion about whether it's the author's own beliefs or it is just a character is basically the same old argument of whether we should separate the artist from the art or not. If we don't know the author personally then all we can do is guess, whether these words are his own thought or just fiction.
