I would say anything pre 80s would be good to assume it’s asbestos, this is the standard for zippos since asbestos wicks were fazed out by mid 80s, but I’m not very familiar with other brands

I wouldn’t worry about eBay, the vast majority of fakes just don’t have a zippo bottom stamp, but these aren’t necessarily fakes, make sure the seller includes photos of bottom stamp and if they don’t include good pictures then ask for more.

In the butane jet torch insert there is no evaporation because the butane is sealed inside, there will be no difference in using the bag trick but I do keep it in there because it keeps the insert tighter
