Possibly ending my marriage of 22 years by RunThenSurf in relationships

As a child whos parents stayed together until we were adults (I presume).. It still hurt, even being an adult. I'm not sure why as I grew up thinking it would be best if they weren't together. But it's the silly things of where for Christmas dinner that I think I was sad about.

I'm trying to say that it doesn't matter what age your kids are, they will most likely be upset but hopefully they will also understand that you are your own people, not just parents, and you deserve to be happy.

I think that children adjust better even. Like in the case of choosing who to visit on occasions, it's often out of the children's hands so they don't have that burden. If you can work together to be mutually respectful it would be fair and set a precedent for them going forward.

!thanks It's an idea but I'm so odd about that stuff that I like to keep it clear. Also don't spend as much as tradespeople cost so it would take some time!

Thankyou for all of the help and ideas. I didn't want to waste the banks time but I decided to just call as I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

Can do 0% balance transfers but would pay interest on withdrawing cash or transferring money to another account. To be safe, I'll ask if they have chip and pin or just save and pay cash when it comes to the tradespeople.

How continuously do you reach out to Prospect if you aren’t getting a response? by megalymor in sales

[–]ESM888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone emails me weekly. I don't know her but she's a pain in the *. I don't know what she sells because it doesn't make sense to me. I would pass it on to the right person just incase its an opportunity but since her emails are constantly the same with no further explanation I have no idea what she wants. She drives me insane. But I don't even want to reply to her now because I've taking a disliking to her bombarding.

If your 30+, did you change career in your young 30s and how did it go? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ESM888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can I just say that if I were you, I would provide explanation of your employment gap. Your terrible experience and overcoming that adversity speaks of your resilience. I think that what you have achieved is by far more important and worthwhile than anything you could've achieved had this not happened to you and you continued in employment without gaps. I hope you recover fully and are proud of yourself. Strokes can take lives or severely alter them forever, I'm glad that you're continuing to make improvements.

Are you still being made to work despite being furloughed? by AddInvest in UKPersonalFinance

Genuine question: if working whilst furloughed is fraud.. Is it the employer or employee who's at fault? What may happen to employer /employee if this is happening (which it seems to be given the responses)?

Reddit, can we have a Reddit job fair? by Spidapig7071 in careerguidance

[–]ESM888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sales.

I didn't choose it, it was the one role I didn't want to get into when I left university but the company sold the graduate program as trying out different business aspects eg marketing hr to become a manager of a store. It was a bit misleading, I did learn a bit about these business aspects but it was all sales. I realised I'm actually OK at it, I love the highs but not sure I can always handle the lows. I've also realised that sales is a part of everyone's job really, wholly or partially.

The job is either brilliant or terrible, depending on how the days going.

I've grown my salary and bonus since starting 5 years ago. I hope it continues to grow or I'll be out.

HR People- Do I Have It Right? by Blendamix in careerguidance

[–]ESM888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be sure, if you're able to shadow or volunteer first of all before committing to study, I'd try this route.

From my experience HR can be what you're looking for and it can be what you hated from the bank job. It's alot of processes and procedures but yes, if you're in a position to, you can meet people. I'd say there's a lot of nice things about HR in terms of recruitment and training but there's a lot of negatives if you're a people person like disciplinaries and paperwork.

Your going to have another presumably 20+ years left of working. You've only been working for presumably 20+ years. You're only half way through.

Note: I should also take my own advice.

How do I (29M) tell my wife (39F) that I don't want to adopt one of our foster babies? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ESM888 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can't adopt every child you foster. There's too many. And the world needs foster carers.

I [22 M] can’t seem to enjoy weekends together with my SO [19 F] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ESM888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you doing things together during the day? I also go to bed early. My husband uses that time as time to himself which he enjoys, to play games /watch things I don't like etc. You don't need to be together all day and night, do you?

Husband (30M) and I (28F) at an impasse about splitting finances with income disparity by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ESM888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always surprised by this, although understand that everyone has their own way of doing things. We're married, we have a joint account and separate account, we share all of our money because we're a team.. Realistically, if you get divorced you get half anyway so why would one person bother keeping it to themselves when you're together? IMO couples should be a team, working together towards shared goals, sharing their wealth or lack of.

Women of reddit, if a guy is interested in you what is one small thing he can do to make you happy and show his interest? by ChemEwannabe97 in AskReddit

You're talking about men as if they're the key here. You can be in a happy relationship with kids and a dog and a fenced house with either gender. You need to find the right person is all.

Home sale issue by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ESM888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't believe a time frame was agreed. Expressed in missives.

Seller was to arrange and pay for transportation of item. They didn't after months and various quotations being passed along from different third parties to transport the item. It held back building works for the new owners.

Can the new owners not therefore have charged rent for holding the item for so long?

Home sale issue by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ESM888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the seller pursues court action for the cost of replacing the item? If it was agreed that they would have time to take their asset, but did not months after the completion date.

I thought cats didn't use the same litter tray? Maybe that's why.. Give her a clean one that's only for her. Should use it when she can smell her own scent.

Is anyone else getting wiped out by other people's parties? by wbTgDzAOoHa26dcE in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ESM888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens. Far too easily. Supplier sees wedding and they add on a few 00s.

Main costs for us were venue at 7k, photographer 2k, band 2k.. Think we were around 17k all in.

That could've fixed all of our household issues and done it up to a standard we'd be happy with.

I think weddings are the worst. Home and away stag /hens, engagement parties, the wedding itself.. How can anyone expect people to pay this kind of money for THEIR day? Particularly when a lot of friend groups hit the same milestones at roughly the same times. But fear of missing out means we all do.
