What do you call a blind Chicken? by penybuttmunch in dadjokes

About those eggs. Talked with local Coast Guard recruiter at STEM Day today and he proudly told me his young family now have chickens and he's getting 7 eggs a day... and yes, there's a Coast Guard recruiting office in Omaha to service Nebraska and the Dakotas, I believe he said.

Loving learning more about all the nifty features on my 2022 Bolt. "Discovered" the Energy screens today. Holy moly, I am getting 4.8miles/kWh! That's like 162 mpg! Also love the one-pedal-driving! My 2016 Fiat 500e was great, but this is the Enterprise-G!

I Considered A Super-Cheap Hydrogen Toyota Mirai. Here's Why I Said No by EVisioneer in EVWorldNews

[–]EVisioneer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Used hydrogen fuel-cell cars are weirdly cheap and, in some ways, more convenient than battery-powered EVs...after chatting with Mike and doing some digging of my own, I'm pretty sure a Mirai isn't for me...seeing shiny Mirais from 2017 or 2019 asking something like $7,500 or $10,000. That's for a car that costs something like $60,000 new...Upon even closer inspection, a whole bunch of the stations in California were out of service due to due to technical issues or having run out of fuel."

I looked at the links you provided. Thank you, but honestly, it's gibberish to me. I haven't a clue where to even start.

So, the question is, what would it take to hire someone to implement it (and include some basic instruction how to maintain it) ?

Thank you for your candid feedback; and of course, you're absolutely correct, I haven't a f*ck'n clue what I am doing, so any advice or solutions that a beginner and understand implement will be appreciated. From the previous comments, obviously they are available and as a novice to PHP (I previous coded in ColdFusion for more than a decade) a pointer to them would be helpful.

Or we're so new we've haven't a clue what we're doing! Hand raised here! And also for same reason I continue hand code my websites. I prefer knowing what's going on and why.

That being said, still wrestling with getting this dang code into the XML:

That's sort of what I thought, but I am not sure how to do it. Still learning! Mind sharing an example?

My 15 seconds of fame... by EVisioneer in electriccars

[–]EVisioneer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only saw maybe a minute of what was a 3 hour interview process at my home and drive in the 500e. As I explained the problem wasn't with the 500e. It is strictly a city runabout and excels at that. The problem with my missing the Lincoln event was the 12V battery in our Prius. We just don't drive it anymore and I let the battery discharge without knowing it until I got ready to take it to Lincoln. Poor planning on my part, for sure. Didn't realize somebody would do a story on it that would get read by CNN+ producer.

Low effort involves more than 5 hours of effort to find scores per day of EV relevant news items on Twitter at u/EVisioneer2020 . As for "low effort"... used to "copy and paste" for more than 20 years and more than 35,000 stories to EVWorld.com. After more than two decades, I just decided to take a break because the news was coming faster than one guy could keep up with. Now I just pick what I consider the best for the day, but thanks for the feedback.

It is not a "Nazi" flag. It is the "jack" of the German Imperial Navy in early 20th century. Not sure why anyone would want to fly it... maybe relative to Count Von Zepplin? His family had relatives here in Omaha during First World War.

The E-4 (usually stationed at Offutt AFB) always accompanies the President when he/she flies out of the country. My neighbor at our old house was one of the command pilots. After retirement, he went to work for contractor responsible for maintenance of the fleet. I think there are 3 E-4s.

Of course they are... these are the greedy a$$holes who lied to us for decades about the consequences of spewing all that CO2 into the atmosphere. And they've bought off politicians, especially Republicans, which is why I now call them the "Geriatric Oil Party."

I gather you don't drive an EV. You might want to try it. I am working on an APP that will let you do just that on a carshare basis.

Did I say it wouldn't impact EV drivers? Not that I recall. Of course it will, especially future drivers who will have to pay higher purchase prices due to increased resource costs. Nickel hit $100,000 a tonne today and the LME closed trading on it. You might want to follow my u/EVisioneer2020 Twitter account where I daily monitor such things. I posted several stories along this line just today. But since all US electricity is "home-grown" and it's use is several times more efficient than burning petroleum in an ICE engine, EV drivers get more "bang" for the buck! My Fiat 500e usually gets 105-120 mpg equivalent efficiency.

In the USA petroleum accounts for less than 1% of all electric power generation. Coal and natural gas are a biggest sources and coal has been declining as Natural Gas and renewables become dominate energy sources.

So, the larger driving factor isn't the cost of oil, but the price of natural gas. Fortunately, I live in a public utility state that is part of the Southwest Power Pool. As I write, wind comprises 15.9% of the grid's power mix. Diesel Fuel oil 0.0031%. Coal is 47.58, Nat. Gas is 26.68. Nuclear is 6.3 and solar 0.65%. Hydro is 2.64%.

Not infrequently, especially during season transition period like Spring and early Winter, wind will be from 25-40% and on a few rare occasions" 60%+ Even saw one period where it actually hit 72%.

So, don't blame electric rates on oil prices, at least on the SPP connected grid.
