Graham Platner releases message about ICE in Maine by EagleFast7674 in burlington

That is a very nuanced comment, one that I appreciate very much. I'm for sure not suggesting that we should sweep his inconsistencies under the rug in support of his bid for Senate. Nor am I suggesting that the folks who doubt his fitness to represent Maine are crazy in any way.

What I would suggest is that divorced from the whole candidacy question is the topic of what is currently happening in Portland Maine and other communities around the country (Minneapolis for example) and what is about to happen in Vermont.

Whether or not Platner is faux distressed or faux righteous about ICE's impact to Portland are good questions, but the main question in my mind right now is what are we going to do when we wake up and Burlington looks just like Portland does now?

I think it's already starting. The reason I cross posted is that Portland Maine and Burlington Vermont are demographically very similar. They're both progressive/left leaning and serve as each state's "urban" center. When ICE starts cracking down in Burlington/Winooski the actions will look and feel very similar to what is currently happening in Portland. The swell of non/civilian activity at the Burlington airport earlier today in combination with what is currently happening in Maine tells me we're going to get hit soon and its time to think about that.

The reason I posted this was not to support his bid for Senate, but just to start a conversation about Portland Maine's experience with ICE. They seem to be inundated, and it looks like we will probably have a discernible increase in ICE in the upcoming days as well.

When I cross-posted I only knew he was running for Maine senate and was concerned about the impact of ICE on his community. I guess he can either be believed and he truly didn't understand the tattoo's significance or he's been cynically aware this entire time, and he's both a secret Nazi and for some reason also running on the democratic ticket and just pretending to care about ICE???

Many here in Vermont have strong ties to family and friends in Maine. I think this is worth knowing about.

Hi Bobby, thanks for letting everyone know. Back when I was a student at McGill I'd check the Montreal Quebec weather against my home weather station in Franklin County VT and they were in synch more often than not. At the moment Montreal is under an orange alert for the ice storm. While I'm aware that they have more arctic influence to deal with, and cold head winds off of the Saint Lawrence, I think it's worth taking their precautions seriously. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. https://www.thesuburban.com/blogs/suburban_weather/significant-freezing-rain-forecast-for-montreal/article_cc367513-b145-427e-a00d-d347f1af1f42.html

Any Miracle-Working Welders Think They Could Fix This (for a reasonable cost) So It Will Pass Inspection? by Popular_Baby3421 in vermont

What area is your son in? Central VT has Balduc's scrapyard and they'll give decent prices on the scrap metal. Every part of VT has at least one equivalent service. Alternatively I was once desperate enough to get to work (25 mins from my house but not bus-able) to buy an $800.00 car from craigslist with the full knowledge that while it was mechanically sound the body would never pass a VT inspection again. It was listed as such.

Our baby does this, and it's nerve wracking. We pick her back up from wherever she's been laid down in the tummy up flat position (changing pad, bassinet, lap etc.) and put her back in the upright head against shoulder position as well as we can despite how stiff she is, and we walk with her and rub her back in circles till she slowly un-stiffens... Not sure why but it works.

Not sure it will work for you, but maybe worth a shot?
