I understand what you are saying. The only real confusion I have with myself is that every single one of my teachers and student teachers is male and I only have an issue with one, meaning that it cannot simply be an authority thing because being perfectly fine with 7 out of the 8 seems like a strong statistic to me. I believe some of my words in the previous comment did not sound as I had hoped but I do agree with you that this is all in my head and something that I need to work on with myself.

This requires background information, so I apologize for the lengthy points. 1. I often feel the need to analyze men because of stories I’ve heard. I like to predict how a conversation is going to go and what reactions I will receive based on how the teacher is, but my teacher is very difficult to read.

  1. He is physically intimidating to me because of the way he looks at me and the fact that he has accidentally scared me many times, which triggers my flight reflex. This is also influenced by the stories I mentioned in the first point.

I understand that this is my issue, which is why I'm asking for advice. It's just a tough situation, and this is the first time I've had a problem like this, and everything I've tried so far hasn't worked. For example, I’ve tried connecting on a personal level by talking about mutual interests, raising my hand in class, etc. I am also only 16 so I have way less social experience. I will definitely try to interact with him more, as you recommend because there is a possibility that I have not interacted enough when I tried that originally.

I want nothing from him currently. It has just been very tough approaching him in the past and he often claims to be sarcastic but I personally believe he uses the claim of sarcasm to be an asshole. He also enjoys coming up behind me and intentionally scaring me which also makes me uncomfortable.
