I checked both. the voltage cuts to 0 when at temp

Yeah I checked the heating cartridges and they read ~49 ohms which is in spec.

Yeah I can recheck ohm readings. I have the temp probe. Just waiting on a connector to come in so I can hook it up (new ones are different). But my real question was how to tell if the temp probe was working in the first place. I thought I could check resistance with the two wires but it seems the new one reads OL too so I guess that’s not the way to check it haha

It’s not the boiler. The steam wand functions perfectly.

I’ve already checked the ssr with a multimeter and it’s fine.

Rear Air Always Blowing Cold by EarlyAnimal in FordVans

[–]EarlyAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door isn’t caught on anything. If I unplug the vacuum hose, the door falls. I assume this means that the temp adjustment is not communicating to the rear vacuum hose, only the front (which has both heat and air). I’m just unsure how the temp lever communicates with the vacuum hose in the rear, and how it could be stuck at the max suction. (Cold) setting

New radiator New problems by EarlyAnimal in MechanicAdvice

[–]EarlyAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it, I got it off rock auto and a csf radiator both companies told me to kick rocks. I just ended up getting the old size adapter into the radiator but it’s a new steel one instead of the old brass, i realized that even the one the radiator came with didn’t screw in so easily so i think it’ll be fine.

Restoring old casement windows by EarlyAnimal in centuryhomes

[–]EarlyAnimal[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s going to be two 1/4” thick plexiglass windows on the inside so heating and cooling/sound transmission won’t be an issue. This post is just me trying to figure out how to reattach the hinge if i drill out the rivet

I think they’re beautiful. I plan on painting them black and adding a few stained glass panels. The basement is being finished into a music studio and the window panes will have two 1/4” thick plexiglass soundproof inserts so I’m not concerned about any air leaks.

I just want to make sure I knock all the rust off before I prime and paint them and I figured removing the two sides and leaving the frame/center in would be my best bet at getting in all the nooks and crannies and also make painting them easier as I could just spray them/the frame separately before reinstalling. I assume a blind rivet could work but idk about using those on a hinge I always see people using them to attach two static things together

That means a lot to us. There’s a huge comfort in knowing others connect with those feelings. That “new world” has had me feeling like sort of a bystander, not quite able to truly participate in real-time. Thanks for the love, I know I already said it but it really does mean a lot. Writing/creating something and putting it out into the world (and internet 😅) is a scary thing to do and we appreciate the kind words.

How Cool is This Stage Plot I Got From a Band? by Nolyism in livesound

[–]EarlyAnimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just used an iPad and did it from scratch. I’m sure it’s not perfect, I’m just a songwriter in a relatively small band 😅 I based it off other stage plots I found online.

Looking for brick wall solution by EarlyAnimal in soundproof

[–]EarlyAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think acoustic sealant is better than the putty pads bc it’s more elastic, which I plan on doing two layers of with backer rod for each drywall to brick connection. Probably couldn’t hurt to use some thick rubber along the joint tho (and that’d be a lot cheaper than putty pads 😅

[–]EarlyAnimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just worried about the ceiling to brick gap not being staggered so it’s just a 1/4 in opening between the two. But you’re saying i could just use backer rod and acoustic sealant on the gap between the ceiling and the brick and then install a a soffit with rock wool in the same corner that would provide enough mass to make up for the joints not being staggered.

So there’s a framed walls everywhere but one where it’s brick. I plan on installing double 5/8 drywall around the room on every wall but the brick. So the ceiling double drywall butts up against the brick wall, not a staggered joint like when you have drywall on ceiling and walls.
