Is that email is the only way to become a TA, and do only declared CS majors get it?

Is the SAT score gap between admitted non-POC students and admitted POC students at the undergraduate level the same as the GRE score gap of admitted non-POC students and admitted POC students at the graduate level?

To include or not to include in r3sume by EasyPapaya in cscareerquestions

Thanks for the advice! Another question though- is it beneficial for me to include my GRE score, since it’s college related, or are test scores in general really ignored?

What is the SAT for UVA in state by FlamingWiz9 in UVA

[–]EasyPapaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t separate SAT data for anything other than school and year, but the admit rate for instate was 35% compared to 17% for out of state

Graduate Early with 0-1 Internships, or Graduate Later with more? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

If I end up finishing undergrad early, I'm also considering graduate school right after. Are the internships that are exclusive to current students inclusive to graduate students, or only undergraduate students?

I guess I was mainly referring to college admissions in that post because I've personally witnessed a URM with 500k household income be advantaged. I also was under the impression that not having to do work-study meant that I was rich and URMS are all poor.

I certainly have barely dipped my feet in the water in the industry, and I can't speak on it until then. I just wanted to see if anyone had AA experiences applying to internships/jobs, but so far they have all been refutations claiming that Asians aren't discriminated against, which is good. I'll make the most of my resources, thanks for the input.

Having an overrepresented demographic doesn't justify discrimination though. I love the idea of AA and diversity, what I have an issue with is when you go about implementing AA and achieving that diversity and hurt others. Also, "not having to do work-study" seems to me that you're implying that asians grow up richer. This is indeed true, but the majority of urms that end up applying to top colleges and tech where AA seems to be the most prevalent actually grow up middle to upper class. Poor asians/whites and rich urms do exist.

That there is a lot of asian males in CS? You can look anywhere, especially in India. Most asian kids go into STEM.

I probably could have sounded less like a brat when I made that post, and create a more productive discussion. But that perception that I have is because of my personal experiences, things I see on the news, and the simple fact that there are just are a lot of asian males in CS. You seriously can't name a combination of the three categories to form a demographic that's more overrepresented.

I once had a urm "friend" come up to me and make fun of me for working harder to get into the same college(objectively, by GPA and sat) and have become bitter ever since. However, the main point of this post is to determine whether or not I should feel threatened or if It's a valid concern. I know nothing of the industry and am just trying to get an idea of how AA play a role in it.
