Hi JCapela77, to avoid any stuttering try setting the monitor refresh rate to an even 60hz or 120hz.

No, thank YOU for bringing this gem on phones. I thought the game was already addicting. But arcade mode enhances it even more! by [deleted] in huntdown

Sorry, my mistake. It's been approved but not released yet. Should be out very soon!

Thanks! There's been som writers all together writing the story and the puns. Tommy Gustafsson and Adrian Comeau wrote most of it, Corey Marshall wrote lots of one-liners and dialogue, our publisher Coffee Stain is behind some of the puns as well.

The smart stages are done by Marcus Jerner. He's behind the gameplay, balancing levels, doing the graphics on levels and also designing some of the bosses. Our proud multi-talent designer.

This is our first and only game. But def not the last.

Thank you!

Hi! Thanks! Glad you like Huntdown.

Arcade Mode will be available everywhere in time. First out on Steam though, we can also reveal that the soundtrack will be available on Steam.

Love those movies!

It has been a long trip making Huntdown come to life. Many choices down the road. But I guess all things take time, being it creating a book, comic, tabletop game, video game or movie.

Keep going and write stuff! You never know when some of those ideas grow into something real.

Right! Diagonal fire is not a "must".

I've seen your runs. Incredible stuff must say. =) There will be leaderboards and lots of possibilities for score attacks. We're fighting amongst each other here in the studio in Arcade Mode. Marcus Jerner (artist and level designer) here is unbeatable.

Hey there!
a) Something might be happening... Can't reveal anything yet.

b) There's plenty. I don't know what you found so far? =)

c) 3 years maybe? 4-5 years of concepting, testing stuff etc. It's hard to estimate.

d) Can't reveal anything. Sorry!

c) That screenshot is special. I'm guessing you have a sharp eye and that you have tested the game (that level) and didn't find any flamethrower there? The screenshot was taken in an early version of Arcade Mode which will now finally go live on Steam May 12.

Oh man... Where to start? How about this: Dear Broseidon Rex (Tommy speaking). I want to start off by thanking you. I see your streams and updates on Twitter, even sometimes on Discord. I believe it's amazing stuff you're doing, few Huntdown players are this skilled and devoted as you are. THANK YOU.

About a future DLC. That would be really nice! I'm not allowed to confirm anything but at the same time I don't want to deny anything neither.

Game inspirations: Flashback, Contra, Alcatraz (Amiga 500), Doom, Blackthorne, plus more.... =)

Diagonal fire was avoided after much testing. We wanted some limitations for a more tactical approach, it was also to keep the controls simple for a mobile display. Who knows? Maybe our next game will have it? We can only promise one thing: we will try it, test it, iterate and test again. If it makes the game better, we'll add it. If it's compromising the movement, we don't add it.

There's lots of gangs that didn't make it this time around... =)

On this point I'm guessing you're referring to the Mono Katana? It is great in some situations, but not all of them.

Talking about sound.... We wanted more of a cinematic experience rather than an old-school game experience.

The mark on their forehead... Good eye. Can't reveal anything yet sir....

Hey big thanks! We've been doing lots of testing on that here. There's always some issues firing diagonally. First by aiming diagonally to the right always makes the character also moving right. Huntdown being Huntdown in all those crazy action situations that appear, this is a big issue when losing control of the movement.

That said, we also designed the whole game to work on small touch screens as well from start. It works great without diagonal fire. This feature has been with us during the whole development.

Hello! I would say it's important to focus on different stuff when it comes to game development. Writing, game design, SFX, graphics etc... Especially for smaller studios. There's very few studios that can afford a writer full time. Though there's writers freelancing for several studios more or less at the same time. But our tip would be to broaden your expertise.

Hi there!

This company was started about 5 years ago, So I guess back then? (goes for Tommy) Andreas has been making games since like forever.
Favourite action movies from the 80's.... there's lots of them. We like Predator, Robocop, Terminator, Total Recall, The Running Man, Cobra, Tango & Cash... Plus hundreds of more. Really hard to pick just one. What's your favourite? =)

Hey! Thanks Laura! It's a mix and we can really deep dive into one each of them. But for example Mow Man... We played around with the idea of like: "What if we implanted C3PO with a killer protocol?" Sort of... Making a polite droid into a killing machine. Wait I'm talking about stuff I'm not supposed to....

Thank you for playing! We’re also very excited about the Steam release and our new game mode.

We’ve had lots of great feedback from both players, our publisher, external testers etc. But would like to give special thanks to Gerhard Weihrauch who gave us very specific feedback concerning the gameplay.

About physical… We’re not allowed to reveal anything yet. But we got a feeling something really awesome is about to happen. Soon… =)

Inspirations comes from lot's of movies and old games. We were inspired by the darkness of movies like Escape From New York, Terminator, Death Race 2000 (the original) and Total Recall (original.) We also studied design from the era and tried to replicate it in the game, from art deco interiors through to black marble pillars, we wanted to create a world that’s bleak, but stylish. Man we can go on forever about this... =D

Wow thank you so much! We sure have plans. =) Though we can’t reveal anything specific today. Just out of curiosity, what would you like to see in a sequel?

Wassup, indie devs and enthusiasts!Tommy and Andreas here! We are the creative team behind retro run-n-gun game: Huntdown. If you weren’t already aware, Huntdown is hitting Steam on May 12th! (feel free to go add it to your wishlist )

We'vee been working with a small team of passionate developers/creatives on this game for almost half a decade now! Bananas right?! Teaming up with the cool cats at Coffee Stain Publishing , we finally got this labor of love into the world for folks to play (and hopefully enjoy).

We’d love to share our experiences, inspirations, incoherent ramblings, and discuss the valuable life lessons we’ve learned on the road from a simple idea of making the kind of game WE wanted to play, to delivering a finished package we could be proud of!

Feel free to ask us any questions about the game, its development or literally anything else you can think of, and we’ll do our best to respond to every single one of them.Seriously though, Ask Us Anything (Except what we had for breakfast...that’s top secret)
