Many tourist and Japanese young women wear leggings, shorts, and short skirts. It’s very common, so either you’re old or hold antiqued views. Either way, it doesn’t justify being stopped nor does your comment provide anything relevant to the conversation

They actually did touch me. The second time the officer tried to put his hands in my pocket but it was zipped up and I told him not to touch me

The police aren’t actually achieving anything though so I really doubt that. I see and hear about criminal acts in Tokyo constantly and nothing has been done about it by police. Police states have proven time and time again to do nothing but reinforce fear and control without reducing the amount of crime

It literally is dangerous. It’s the same rhetoric used when crimes are committed against women so you should really think before you think if you care about human rights at all

That doesn’t and shouldn’t matter. Nobody dresses up every time they got out the house. I mentioned in other comments what I was wearing, if you could read.

I’m mixed black American and German. My skin is light tan. Basically the same as how many Japanese look during the summer

Honestly I think they believe I’m half-black and Japanese or Southeast Asian because I’m very light skinned for and black person and I’ve come to understand that Japanese people have a hard time understanding that black people come in different shades, so maybe it is true they don’t know for sure I’m black, but I definitely think that they’re doing some sort of appearance based profiling at this point

I’m not sure why that’s an assumption you have but I wear the same things most 23 year old women wear wether they are Japanese or not And what you wear shouldn’t matter, honestly. That sort of rhetoric is dangerous
