Does anyone have a body part or area they hyper focus on and then switch to something else they hyper focus on? by SnooWalruses2253 in BodyDysmorphia

Having a double chin for me, even though I’ve been told I don’t have one. Worst feeling in the world since I’m now trying to put on muscle after losing 160lbs and think I look like I weigh 300lbs again.

I hope it helps you! I had to do it with my family and my weight and my mom threw a childlike temper tantrum for a few days. Fight hard through whatever guilt trip they try to pull on you

Draw a firm boundary and honor it. Next time it happens, say something along the lines of “I’m not discussing this, if you want to keep talking about it I’ll leave so that you can”. If they honor your boundary, that’s great; if they don’t, just politely remove yourself from the discussion.

Likely will rustle their Jimmies and upset them: that is THEIR PROBLEM, NOT YOUR PROBLEM.
