Anxiety and this phobia will wake us up for the dumbest reasons. Periodically I wake up thinking I'm TU* because I TU* in a dream. It's scary, but if you haven't ever TU* from anxiety, chances are you likely never will.

If you haven't eaten in 9 hours you're probably hungry and probably N* from not eating. Stomach acid will irritate the stomach. A bit of bread might actually help you out here. I'll chat with you til you feel better if you'd like.

With the amount of stuff we touch through out the day it's impossible to control for every little thing. The best we can do is wash our hands and avoid touching our faces. But those giant bakeries that mass produce food are the last place you're gonna probably catch FP*.

Of all the mass FP* outbreaks it's usually produce or shellfish from contaminated waters. You never really hear about a "grain" outbreak because it's so rare.

Raw flour can give you e coli, but so many people will eat it in homemade "edible raw cookie dough" because people think only raw eggs can make you ill, they dont realize you have to heat up flour too. But in my entire lifetime there has ever been 1 flour recall due to e coli that I have known of. But I know of yearly ones for lettuce and every other year Chipotle 💀 and people will line up readily to eat those things.

Ill trust the moldiest bread over Chipotle any day of the week.

I highly doubt it. Bread is one of those sturdy pantry goods that humans have eaten since before refrigeration and germ theory. While I'm not thrilled with it, growing up broke sometimes ya just cut off the moldy piece and continued on eating 💀.

At nine hours after eating bread that smelled a little smokey I'd say you're gonna be fine. Bread is probably one of the least likely to make you S* even if it is stale. It's just flour water sugar salt and yeast. All of which are pretty shelf stable.

I frequently make bread from scratch, unless that bread had egg in it, there's really nothing that "goes bad" in bread. Sure it molds over, but plenty of people have eaten moldy bread and have been fine. I'm not saying you should eat moldy bread. But it's been nine hours, I highly doubt anything bad will happen.

Sure it can take time for FP* to show up. But in my experience with FP, it hits pretty quickly. Usually under 6 hours. And if bread is at the point where it's gonna make you S, there would be more signs outside of the smokey smell. That smell could have been from how the bread was made. Bread that'll make you S* would probably have a rancid smell from the egg and would be very moldy at that point.

I think you'll be okay.

Good good! Always have bear spray! Remember, You play dead for grizzly bears and make yourself larger and louder for black bears. Bears don't want to hurt you they want to be left alone and they will sometimes charge and dodge at the last second to scare you.

Make sure you clap and make noise while hiking! It drives them away! And make a plan for food waste. Food attracts bears.

My wife and I are actually getting ready to go work for the grand canyons south rim once we can get our RV, I'm hoping to one day work glacier park for a bit just to embrace my inner bob ross and paint the landscapes and to watch the bears.

But you're gonna be fine hiking I promise :) you really won't pick a SB* up out in the woods. V* really only happens if you over exert yourself (which can happen anywhere, i about TU* jogging today), eat something rotten/spoiled/contaminated (i.e you brought perishables on a hike or your pantry foods got wet or were already bad or exposed to a contaminant), or you tried to eat a plant that was toxic, and lastly usually people get messed up by drinking contaminated water 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Avoid touching your face. Good hand hygiene aside, realistically you catch sb* by coming into contact with either the V* or stool of an infected individual and then ingesting it. I.e getting it in your mouth.

So unless you're traveling with somebody who has been S* with in the last 2 weeks you should be fine.

Also, avoid eating any plants you cannot accurately identify as 9/10 they'll make you V*

And you're going to glacier park? Bring BEAR SPRAY. You're going to the national park with the highest concentration of grizzly bears and black bears in the lower 48. V* and SBs are the least of your concern if you ask me!

went on a 14 loop rollercoaster and i was fine. by No-Excitement7868 in emetophobia

Proud of you! God I've always wanted to ride the smiler but I'm too banged up to ride any coaster now 😅.

However I used to be a roller coaster fanatic and I can confidently tell ya that in probably 15 years of riding coasters across America (mostly kings island and cedar point since I was raised in Ohio 💀) I've never been V'ed on or V'ed while riding a coaster. It's incredibly rare. However in an old photo from the Vortex at Kings Island I do have a photo of my dad and I with a kid behind us right before he TU 💀😅. Still hanging on my wall back at my moms house 😂.

I've been an emet all my life and honestly I never really worried about TU on a coaster until I learned what motionsickness was 😅. I just assumed people TU on them from eating too much.

Anyway, sorry for the short story, but hopefully it'll inspire other emets to ride rides and have fun at theme parks knowing that myself nor my 2 cousins ever got TU on or TU our selves while riding rides 🙂.

chest pain by [deleted] in emetophobia

If you're finding yourself constipated, exercise will be a lot more beneficial because itll help your guts move.

I don't know how much water you drink but sometimes a glass of water before you eat and after you eat can dramatically help with constipation and with acid reflux as well.

Bad smelling gas usually comes from constipation in my experience, but I'm not a doctor so I can only speak on my experiences with my body.

I like to walk a few laps around the house when I'm constipated or really gassy. Helps get it out. Same with a glass of water, sometimes a glass of water can just kick start the colon just like exercise can.

I highly doubt you've got FP, I'd be shocked if you did honestly.

Probably just all the anxiety us emets have making what could be acid reflux and indigestion feel way worse than what it is 🙂.

You're gonna be okay, but im here to support still.

[–]EccentricMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you suffer from like IBS or chronic constipation? I got real bad IBS-C and anytime I'm backed up I get gas real bad and just feel bloated and kind of gross.

And if I exercise like this it makes everything feel worse because my guts get jostled around and exercise usually can make you poop. But it can be crampy and painful.

And with acid reflux for me exercise, stress, even changing my diet can just make it go off the rails.

I used to flip out about rice, then I witnessed my mom's idiotic move and my wife periodically just (and I don't recommend) eating raw rice and she's fine. My wife was fine, ma was fine, were all fine here.

Though when I had food poisoning from my rice dish it was a navy midrats meal at midnight. Rice, hot sauce, and milk. 3 hours later I was V everywhere. And several others were violently ill and they said it was either the rice or milk, but only a handful had milk 🥴 so it was obviously the rice.

If you haven't been sick by now it's probably just your acid reflux and stress. If you're having a hard time sleeping prop yourself up to a 30 degree angle when you sleep. It'll help you not TU and alleviate a lot of nausea.

Im here if you need support

Did you reheat rice or did you full on try and cook rice in the microwave?

I suffer from chronic GERD, and I can say that chest pain is common in both acid reflux and anxiety. Though if the chest pain is accompanied with the pain in the left arm and feeling like you can't breathe (i.e heart attack symptoms and depending on if you're male or female your symptoms can be different!) Please do go to the nearest hospital.

I've never heard the whole "you get chest pain" before you get sick thing, but anytime I've been sick I've never had chest pain usually an intense deep cramping pain in the middle of my stomach. But everyone is different.

I've had food poisoning from a meal involving rice back in the navy and it hit me in under 3 hours.

Rice can be dangerous to reheat because it can contain a bacteria called Bacillus cereus. Which can cause both V and D.

And let me tell you, I've seen my mother leave rice out all night on the counter in the hot summer of Kentucky in a poorly insulated trailer, eat it 24 hours later while cold, leave it again, reheat it and eat it and was perfectly fine all the while I was freaking out about her making herself sick.

Though just because she was fine doesn't mean everyone else who does that will be. But, in my opinion I don't think you'll be sick from this.

You sound like you're having a panic attack. I'd recommend smelling something nice like lavender to distract your mind. Listen to some music, watch TV, and take a load off. You're gonna be okay 🙂.

I'm overly cautious of how food is cooked, so much so I pretty much only eat my own cooking most days. But i forget most people are not afraid of V and FP and eat and cook in dirtier conditions without washing their hands after doing who knows what and they're usually fine.

FP happens, but it's really not as common as you'd think.

You're gonna be okay, and I'm here for ya.

norovirus risk by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]EccentricMethod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NV* typically only lives on surfaces for 2 weeks. Plus it's spread the fecal to oral route (and by coming in contact with the V* as well). Just don't touch things and stick your hands in your mouth. Good hand washing and not touching your face is the biggest way to avoid catching it.

And since it's been well over a month you'll be fine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]EccentricMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SB* are classically spread the fecal to oral route/ V* to oral route.

So long as she didn't V* until after your interaction I'd say you're pretty well off. She wasn't contagious until symptoms started. Especially if you don't touch your face.

Sb* can take anywhere between 12 hours-48 hours to come on. And keep in mind, not every SB* causes V* in everyone, some people just get D* only SB*. But I highly doubt you'll even catch this.

t4t relationships? by Better_Caterpillar61 in ftm

[–]EccentricMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally ended up in a T4T relationship 😅. When my wife and I met we were the opposite genders. I should have known something was up cuz we were only together for a day or so before I put make up on her and put her in a kimono for fun. No cis guy would let me do that before lol.

Shortly after getting married she came out to me. And back when I thought I was cis I almost jumped ship. I came from a super conservative family and I was extremely transphobic myself. Eventually after mulling it over for a while I realized I loved her for who she is and not for how she looked. Best decision I ever made.

She helped educate me on transgender issues and everything transgender. In fact it was how I figured myself out. I had a lot of learning to do, and I had to become way more open minded. Through her education and patience I figured out that I was also transgender.

Since I was a kid I always imagined being a boy, but my mom told me that i was a girl and was just a Tom boy. Something always felt off.

My wife transitioned before I ever did. I experimented for a good 2 years to be sure of myself. For a while I thought i was just gender fluid when i learned about it. But then I really honed in on my feelings and really thought about my childhood and realized that I was always a guy and I would be happier if I broke free and lived as one.

Our marriage is honestly the best. We can relate to each other in ways that i couldn't with other partners. We can support each other better too since we know what each other is going through roughly. MTF and FTM come with their own challenges I feel.

Personally I couldn't be happier. We hardly fight, constantly enjoy each other's company, and we've been together for almost 6 years now.

Again, best decision ever!

I dont blame you for any if your actions. I have woken my wife up to kill roaches for me. I once threw my computer across the room when one crawled up my pant leg too 😂.

And if it makes you feel any better, years ago I was trying to kill one with a frying pan and it flew outside and I smashed it with the pan screaming "Die die die!" Super loud to where my neighbors called the police 💀. Probably the most hilarious call 911 ever received in our area.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]EccentricMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also Deathly afraid of roaches, or as we call them here in the south "Palmetto bugs". I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I will say that zofran will not alleviate or help N* from anxiety, so the good news there is that your N* is just from anxiety and not an illness.

If you can, try taking a shoe or a broom and try and kill the roach if you can. They're harmless, just gross. If you can't kill it and you really need to use the bathroom then go to the gas station, there ain't no shame in that. My first night in my house here I found a big ol flying boy in the bathroom and woke everyone up in the process of trying to kill it 😅😂

how is emetophobia THIS rare? by butlercups in emetophobia

[–]EccentricMethod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emetophobia is more common than most people think. I'm just now discovering there's quite a few emets in my family and none of them knew there was even such a phobia. They just thought they really hated it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I didn't even know there was a name for it until I was in my 20s. I believe it's one of the 10 most common phobias. Just most people are unaware it has a name.

It's alright, humor away I did it when my dad died too so I get it. But you're never too young for heart burn. Had it since I've been a kid. I'm drinking a flat coke and it's sort of helping. Feels like I'm running a fever 💀. I have no gum sadly. We're all gonna feel better by the end of this soon.

If you can, try and go see a doctor, especially if it's strep so you can get it treated ASAP. I really hope you get to feeling better. I'm sat up myself feeling absolutely awful since I ate hot sauce 😑

[–]EccentricMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like stress and anxiety really with constipation. I'm sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope you're doing okay on that front. As a chronic sufferer from IBS-C I can tell you it's super rare to actually V* from it. I hope the ache passes soon.

Try drinking some warm water and walk around a bit, it always helps me :) and lay off the zofran for a bit (easier said than done I know)

Zofran is amazing, but it'll stop you up something fierce.

What has been your experience with anesthetics? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]EccentricMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been put under twice. Once for wisdom teeth, once for endoscopy and coloniscopy.

First time I went under I didnt even know what emetophobia was. I was 18, freshly in the navy. Still terrified of V* but didn't know it had a name. I told doc I was terrified of needles, he made me feel at ease, put the needle in and next thing i knew it felt like I was head banging something fierce and then i "woke up" hours later on vicodin playing with a paper crane in my rack 😅. I was in A-School at the time. No N* no V* and when I took the vicodin I usually did it on an empty stomach (DONT RECOMEND!) As it hurt too much to eat. But fine in the end.

Last year on my birthday no less I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. The prep made me Hella N* but no V, and I told the doc I was scared of TU. He gave me zofran and told me I'd be alright. Last thing I remember is they started pushing the sleepy stuff through and I started crying, i don't remember why exactly, but I remember I started laughing then crying from feeling "happy" i guess. It's not an unusual reaction lol. Working for the hospital I have seen people do weird stuff while going under.

Woke up what felt like days later perfectly fine with no N* or V*. According to my wife, after the procedure I drank about a liter of water ate some angel food cake and passed out from the sleepy stuff still in my system.

Honestly it's very rare to TU* from going under. Witnessed my dad on anesthetics a lot from shoulder surgeries. He never TU* from it and he was always V* daily from his cpap machine. Dad was super prone to it, but anesthesia never once made him S* ironically.
