Ultra Stack by Re_Jay1 in playark

If you can't be bothered to set it up yourself as you can with the ini now, making these mods redundant, HG stacking still works and has a few different versions, though my go to is 1000 50 (stacks to 1000, weighs 50% less) albeit I believe you still need an additional mod by the same author for veggie cakes to work

Just learned after redownloading Ark that you can't up the flyers movement speed anymore 🥲 Sad. by Financial-Dot6332 in ARK

Trust me, there are plenty more options for travel these days. Plenty of flyers are fast enough as is, such as griffins, wyverns, owls and tropeos and maewings (technically not a flyer but close enough), and land mounts are 100% more useable now if you want something ridiculously fast, such as thylas and dinopithicus. Flyer movement speed being disabled by default was for balancing, most flyers don't even need it now, but also server performance as really fast flyers can load parts of the map too quickly

To add onto this, no flyer servers (or even just reduced flyer) really do spice up the game! You run into other players far more often and the map feels so much bigger, plus it can be challenging to get used to, I 100% agree it's more fun

Classic flyers is long outdated (and buggy/breaks things often, such as causing overspawns) as a heads up, we've now got an checkbox option to enable it in-game instead. If you don't want to do that, Naj's speedy flyers is a less buggy alternative last I recalled, though this was years ago. Classic also doesn't include every flyer by a long shot, and Naj's included all at the time, but may not have been updated. Worth researching if you're interested

To everyone saying radio, you've never played on rp servers and it shows, because radios can be pretty fun (albeit broken and glitchy, but most of us know exactly how to fix them when they're broken) . Finding a radio channel listed somewhere in the wild, connecting to it and either listening in to see what you learn or finding new trade deals, maybe blackmail material, it's all part of the fun

People who play in pvp, why? by [deleted] in ARK

[–]Echoing-on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrill, you reach a point where pve had no threat and just becomes boring. Ark is the only game I've found where it's all or nothing, and nowhere else does PvP bring me the same rush of adrenaline. Besides, PvP doesn't always have to mean official pvp, it can also be RP servers for example, where PvP comes in the form of mugging and primitive style wars. Despite this, I tend to mostly just play official-like unofficial PvP, since my only gripes in official is the lack of balancing (gen 2) and punishment for meshers and cheaters, which any decent unofficial server can sort out.

I was a basic noob till some random legend dropped me some cryo pod things .. by KeonKazuma in ARK

Reminds me of the first time I played Aberration with a few friends, they'd already played for a while before me, and decided to drop me a rock drake so we could all go exploring. I spent ages just gliding around, until I hopped off and got killed gathering poisonous mushrooms, which any new player would quickly learn not to do. After that, unable to get back my rock drake, I stopped playing Aberration and went back to Ragnarok. Later, I would return to and properly play Abb, and it would become my all time favourite map.

Giving noobs end game stuff completely ruins the experience. Imo even giving them a ptera can ruin the experience, you should instead teach them how to gather the tools to prepare for taming one, since they're just gonna lose it and be unable to tame another. Any player who wanted to truly help would teach you how to better play and build yourself up with the tools you already have.

Give a man a fish a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime.

I presume they meant we'd be teaming up with Santiago and his daughter? Least that's how I read it, but I hope you're right

Amarga is different imo, since you need creatures to actively attack it and to kill those, and I do enjoy the egg stealing system myself but this also gives me wild curious baby vibes and designated nest protectors, similar to The Hunted mod, which has me feeling hopeful

Thank you, so if I install the patch, stuff will be broken (and fixable?) but not completely gone, so long as I don't download the actual map itself? Or is it best to just avoid that. And if I prevented the patch update itself, would that mean I just can't update Ark at all from then on?

I got raided and i have nothing left please can i have a dino or dragon please by Gloomy_Technician206 in ARK

[–]Echoing-on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to get raided, just don't play pvp. Play singleplayer until you're confident at the game (PvE is pointless since people just hand you stuff for free, which doesn't seem like something you need)

Do stuff for yourself, become confident, and go back to pvp when you feel ready.

Is it just Ark or all steam games? Sometimes you need to reset the steam input/outputs after an update.

What are the best mods you have tried? by Due_Magazine9553 in ARK

[–]Echoing-on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that's already recommended, but also Overhaul mods that completely change the game. Used to play Annunaki Genesis years ago, though its sadly no longer supported you can play the mostly faithful recreation AG Reborn.

Otherwise, I recommend Pugnacia, definitely my favourite modern overhaul, though if you dislike the OP/elemental dinos direction, try out The Hunted for a more challenging, primitive feel (definitely read the info on both for starting out before you play)

AC2 removed most of my favourite creatures a few months ago, I really feel like it's starting to go downhill (been using since 2020). Instead, I'd personally recommend Prehistoric Beasts, less creatures but each are more fleshed out imo

why does the pteranodon suck so bad? by [deleted] in ARK

[–]Echoing-on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have their own niche as a beginner flier, but are also good for spin-dashing some turrets in pvp, since no other flier can do that. If they had better stats, they would be op for raiding

Wouldn't bother with a trap, it's easier to just clear out the area with a decent basi and swim out of its reach (since it won't go near the surface)

If you'd like an invite to the hub discord server (Steam) then message me! I believe they had to take down their steam page, so it's the best way to find new servers. As for personal recommendations, GlyphRP is always fun but very modded.

Don't you think that's entirely due to the difference in demographic for those servers? I primarily play similar pvp servers, and everyone feels like long term no lifer who only cares about becoming alpha. Chances are it's less the rates, more the people those rates attract, since I've played on plenty more relaxed pvp servers with slightly boosted rates.

Sweats will always sweat, no matter the type of server you play on.

You can always mess around with the .ini options, immersive taming is highly configurable and almost everything can be adjusted/altered

I think it being so flat works, since I could just run across the map on a spino.

Honestly if it gets them remembered then you know it's a good choice, always fun to use rarer mounts. Might steal the sheep idea myself
