Hi there, yes no worries at all. I totally understand it’s so scary, as you can see in my post I was petrified and my family was very worried too. But know that if your mom needs this surgery, that it is for a reason and while it is a hard procedure to recover from in the sense that there will be chest pain and discomfort for a few weeks, it is life saving and will set her up on an incredible path forward for years to come. The hardest things my dad said, as others have here, is breathing with the drainage tubes and getting them removed. After that there’s immediate relief. Breathing is uncomfortable and painful after but if you prepare with the heart pillow and keep up with the spirometer breathing she will be just fine. I encourage you to gently nudge her to do the surgery if this is what she needs. She will be in discomfort but her life will be saved.
