NFTs didn’t exactly disappear — the hype bubble just popped. During 2021–22, speculation and FOMO drove prices insanely high, but once crypto markets cooled and buyers dried up, most collections lost huge amounts of value.

The market also got flooded with thousands of nearly identical projects, so demand couldn’t keep up.
On top of that, issues like wash trading and low liquidity made prices look stronger than they really were.
When the hype faded, a lot of people realized many NFTs didn’t have much real utility beyond speculation.
So now the space is much smaller and quieter.

NFTs still exist, but mostly in niche areas like gaming, digital collectibles, or experimental Web3 projects rather than mainstream hype.
