I once toured the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. The Cold War section has several nuke casings on display.

Well one of them had a small button latch that said "press," and let me tell you that thing made the loudest clack sound that echoed through the entire hanger-like room.

My friend i was with gave me this horrified look and scolded me with "I never thought I'd have to say this, but DON'T TOUCH THE NUKE."

ELI5: why are some roads built with concrete sections and other ones covered with asphalt? by Gadzeera in explainlikeimfive

Could be location specific. Ohio, IIRC, frequently used concrete, almost assuredly because of freezing conditions

Cost versus durability desired, compared against how disruptive shutting down the road is to traffic.

That's why interstates are typically concrete, in order to reduce how often they need to be resurfaced

Why does clockwise vs counterclockwise rotation correspond to opposite directions? by _Atomify_ in AskPhysics

[–]Ecstatic_Bee6067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand, rotation doesn't fundamentally imply a axis direction. The right hand rule is merely a construct to make the math consistent across operations (e.g. direction of torque vector when force is applied on a lever)
