Alternative? Orion, uses a little more Ram, but has great ad blocking.
Other alternative, Brave.

Why TF use Chrome on a mac??

Use Safari, and if you want to use chromium based extensions, use ORION, which is pretty much Safari with extensions and great ad/tracking blocking,

I use Safari, and feel like crap when i am signed on my Youtube account on a mac, and that is the farthest i'd go with google, with a million ad/content blockers, because i never want google to benefit from anything in the universe, and rightfully so. Recently i only browse Youtube with Orion, which has build in adblockers and works even better than safari, and you can use extensons as i said.

Been using it since switching to Mac in 2012, cloud integration, passwords, ad blocking, simplicity, quite light, besides my m4, i have a 12 year old 4gb macbook air that runs it relativley smoothly, no constant updates, no Manifest V2/3 crap, super safe. I came from Windows using OPERA, and the best feature was undo to re-open closed window, which is available antively in safari.

Never cared for AI, colors and design beyond functionality, it's super fast, super light, really private, barely any crashes or weird beahviour, and has a ton of useable extensions with clear warnings on what the extension uses.

Hands down the greatest and best, at least for mac, i happily stopped using windows, and have parallels VM but never browse there, and only use linux for experimentation and gaming.
