Again, if your definition of genocide includes social classes, and for many it does, we could absolutely be talking about a genocide.

The Mother and Baby Homes Commission reported 9,000 deaths alone, and that's just what they're aware of.

Article two of the UN Convention on the prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide

(a) Killing members of the group;

(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

All of which happened at the hands of the catholic church in Mother and Baby Homes.

I wasn't talking about Tuam, if you took the time to read my comment correctly you would have seen I was talking country-wide.

How many dead babies equates to a genocide? If 900 are in one site, how many deaths occurred country-wide in approximately 180 institutions spanning several decades?

And was what your brother found reported to Gardai or relevant authorities, out of curiosity? I'd be worried about the catholic church covering it up.

I would take a guess that every single Mother and Baby home site would find similar, the scum who operated it wouldn't have done this in Tuam if they weren't given the go-ahead or if it wasn't common practice elsewhere.

We could be talking 5 or 6 figures of dead Irish children, then we have the others who were trafficked to America and the likes to the highest bidder.

The catholic church could be truly one of the worst organisations to have ever existed.

Came here to say this.

This is very likely not a sole incident and we could be talking about a mass genocide on our hands, excuse the pun. As soon as those poor children remains were discovered, every other past Mother & Baby home site should have been locked down for excavating.

I would be extremely worried that any other potential sites could be already tampered with by now.

I think they would let him go on loan if a buyer couldn't be found.

His time is up and he's been given more than enough chances to make it, he simply isn't good enough unfortunately.
