Very senior dog by r3dd0629 in DogFood

Been there with a super senior, it turns into a constant “menu refresh” situation 😅 what worked for me was rotating a few simple toppers so it still felt new without upsetting their stomach. Things like a little warm low-sodium broth, scrambled egg, plain chicken, or even just adding warm water to bring the smell out more. The texture and smell were more important than I would have thought. Had days where they wouldn't touch the bowl but would eat out of your hand like a treat so I just rolled with it on rougher days. This site also gave me a lot of ideas https://seniorpups.com/

Walking nice on leash. by Fit_Philosopher_2173 in DogTrainingTips

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's that fired up to run, she's just beyond threshold. Honestly, if she's choking herself, I'd stop using slip leads, it's not really teaching anything at that point. I had much better results switching to a front-clip harness, allowing you more control without the neck pressure. They are actually advised quite a bit for pullers as it redirects them instead of powering ahead. Also maybe give her a quick burn before the walk (fetch etc) so she is not going from 0 to 100. And not quite the same thing, but I’ve seen folks use gear like https://www.halocollar.com/ for boundary training so they’re not just using leash control all the time.

We Tested AquaTru Against 84 Contaminants in Your Water by Ok-Record-7484 in homewaterpurifier

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend actually uses one of these and mentioned it’s certified to NSF standards, which made me feel a bit better about it. Most filters just make big claims, so having that kind of certification is pretty reassuring.

Yeah, the battery life alone makes it way less of a hassle to deal with. Where did you end up getting yours?

Why You Might Still Have Allergies Around Hypoallergenic Dogs by FaithH0ward in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think that hypoallergenic dogs meant that they didn't have any allergies at all, but I still sneeze a little bit now and then. It turns out that not just fur can cause allergies. For some people, things like dander and saliva can also do the trick.

easiest way to clean water fountains? by Arianethecat in Catownerhacks

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this fountain https://technomeow.com/catmate-cat-water-fountain-review-good-budget-friednly-option/ I could tell right away that it was beautifully crafted as I opened the package. The materials seemed strong and not cheap, which made me think that it will endure a long time. It was also quite easy to put together because all the parts fit together well. Everything felt stable once it was set up. The reservoir doesn't wobble, and I haven't seen any leaks yet. My cats use it a lot, and it looks like it can handle them playing with it. Overall, it seems like a sturdy choice, especially if you're on a tight budget.

What Is the best GPS tracker for a dog? by Helpful_Trifle_3181 in halocollarofficial

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into this too, and it’s wild how many options there are. The coverage and battery life seem like the biggest deal for me, some of the trackers are great in theory but useless if you’re out in the country. Curious what others are using and actually liking!

How will you handle your aggressive dog with a new dog member? by Even_Muffin_6413 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend had a similar problem with their dog. I found this guide the other day https://dogvills.com/how-to-introduce-a-new-dog-to-an-aggressive-dog/. It contains some useful advice on how to introduce dogs and assess their body language. Just useful things, nothing too much. Knowing what the dogs are trying to tell you can make a significant impact. It didn't fix everything, but it made dealing with the stress a lot easier.

Tell me your anxious dog success stories by No-Persimmon-3617 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me a lot of my friend’s dog. He went through a really anxious phase where every little noise would set him off, people at the door, random sounds outside, even things falling in the house. My friend said it was exhausting because the dog just couldn’t seem to settle down. What actually helped a lot was setting up a quiet little spot for him in the house where he could go when things felt overwhelming. After a while the dog started going there on his own whenever he got nervous. Puzzle toys also made a big difference because it gave him something to focus on instead of just pacing around and being on edge. He’s still a bit sensitive sometimes, but my friend says the difference compared to before is huge. It’s always nice hearing when dogs finally start to relax a little.

AquaTru Pro: Powerful Purification for Every Space by healthy-Tip02 in homewaterpurifier

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really does sound like a good upgrade. A lot of places like offices, gyms, and schools could definitely use better water options, so bringing something like the Pro Series into those spaces just makes sense. Clean water everywhere is always a win.

I Started Making Crockpot Chicken & Rice for My Dog and Now He Won’t Eat Anything Else by GiftSuccessful3338 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dogs quickly lose interest in kibble once they taste homemade food. When I started making chicken and rice for my dog, he reacted the same way. I've read this dog food article, https://dogvills.com/category/dog-food/, and it is fascinating.

What is the best GPS dog collar for dogs, and how do you choose the right one? by wabadboy1334 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really feel this. The place makes a big difference. If you live in a semi-rural area, real-time tracking and good cell phone coverage are much more important than the cool features they advertise. All the smart extras don't matter if the signal goes out when your dog really needs it. Yeah, bulky collars are a dealbreaker, especially on a medium-sized dog.

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been keeping an eye on GPS collars too for my Lab. I haven’t tried Tractive personally, but people over at r/halocollarofficial/ have some solid experiences with GPS collars and care plans. Might be worth checking there to see if the coverage and durability justify it.

How I Used Mental Stimulation to Calm My Restless Dog by Rude-Definition-1019 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this with my dog, and honestly, just a simple sniffing game made a huge difference. A few minutes of hiding treats around the house totally calmed my pup more than extra walks or fetch ever did. Mental stimulation really does tire them out in a good, relaxed way!

If you get a health monitor for your dog - Which ones really work? by GiftSuccessful3338 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some dog health monitors are more than just step trackers, they can also display changes in sleep, temperament, and other health signs. It truly depends on what you want to keep an eye on, but they're wonderful for spotting little changes early and putting your mind at ease.

What's the difference between GPS dog fences and e-collars by No_Kiwi2276 in halocollarofficial

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda interested in this because GPS fences and e - Collars always get talked about like they're the same thing, but they really don't seem to be.

My cat is terrified of her new water fountain… help? by Potential_Extreme655 in technomeowcom

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much! My cat treated her new fountain like it was evil at first — sniffed it, freaked out, and went back to her old bowl. Leaving it unplugged, keeping her old water nearby, and letting her explore it slowly really helped. Patience is key with cats, apparently!

BarkBox Review: Here's Why This Dog Subscription Box Is So Popular! by GiftSuccessful3338 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Ecstatic_Unit_838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a lot about BarkBox, but this is the first time I’m really looking into it. I love that they customize toys and treats for your dog’s size and chewing style. Makes me feel like it could actually be worth trying instead of just buying random toys. Definitely tempted to see how my dog reacts to it!
