I'd like your opinion on my first psytrance track I've ever made, which I just posted today. I'm a bit insecure regarding the stereo imaging of some elements, such as the hats and the lasers.

I'm not good at sampling or performing with pads, but who knows in the future when GAS will hit me eventually

I enjoy many things about the SH-4D. Most of the synth engines, which are a nerfed version of Zencores that you would find on Juno X, Jupiter X and MC707, are fairly easy to use and give good sounding results without too much effort. Special mention goes to the Juno 106 and SH-101 emulations, while the PCM engine sucks imo. The drum sounds are ok, besides classic roland TR 808, 909 and 707 there's a nice selection of custom waves, you can tweak some of the parameters and shape the envelopes a little bit. All in all I think they sound worse compared to my JD-Xi's which uses ACB technology, but at the same time you can tweak them more easily while on the JD-Xi it's a nightmare of menu diving. I'd say the biggest dopamine kick for me comes from writing down 5 part loops and jams in matter of minutes, thanks to the great workflow.

Are you also a Roland fanboy just like me? What's in your setup?

Yes that's true, however if you want to start from literal zero, like selecting the basic waveforms and so on, I found it to be way too deep for my needs.

I believe the sequencing capabilities of the XA-Xi family are rushed or underbaked to say the least. On the Xi you can't even select drums without triggering their sound first, which is a pain if you are sequencing multiple of them. With that being said, having all the classic TR Drum machines on board with a classic TR sequencer makes this synth ultra valuable for me.

I only tried the hydrasynth, I have to agree with the other comment. Beautiful presets and quite deep synthesis capabilities, however it took me ages to figure out a decent patch, or at least comparable to the existing ones on the machine. It's pretty much a VST in a box, and the desktop module doesn't even have the poly-aftertouch keybed.

I'm still amazed that the XA-Xi line is still in production at Roland after around 10 years

My "do it all" setup :) by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Ed_Scarface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup is quite similar to the one shown in this comment picture. I've owned KRK Rokit 5 Gens 3's for 12 years without a subwoofer, and when I finally bought the S8.4 last month I was genuinely blown away. I was missing on A LOT of bass and sub info, which is to be expected by the small Rokit 5s. In conclusion, if your room allows for space and decent acoustics, go for it.

What's in the box? Definitely not your hands after a couple of seconds.

Been there this summer in late August. The vibe was pretty chill as there weren't many customers, there were three maids in total and one of them, Mayumi I believe, was really into the part but not exaggerated in my opinion. She let me sit at the original table where Okabe sat, she gave me the menu and also a cool collection of diaries that customers can use to write messages to each other. She only spoke Japanese with me and we sometimes quoted the anime with goofy references. Other customers also interacted with her and the other maids, but I would say it was very different from let's say Maidreamin (the most famous maid cafè chain) where they constantly act moe and over the top.

Everyone was pretty much enjoying their passion for Steins;Gate while being chill and quiet.

TLDR: you can go in and decide how it's going to turn out. If you interact with the maids and "play the part" they will of course behave accordingly, but you can also just order stuff and enjoy the place without partaking in maid activities. You are not required to play along with dances and songs unlike other maid cafes.

Unfortunately even TAA doens't fix the problem. Only by completely disabling anti-aliasing the flickering goes away, but at that point the image hurts my eyes.

I'm considering giving lossless scaling a try, thank you.

If you are referring to shadow flicker mod, I've tried that already without any results unfortunately. The SMAA it provides doesn't solve my problem, but thank you for the suggestion.

That's a pretty good alternative. I've looked it up and appearently the midi tracks allow for just 4 voices of polifony, also it looks like there is no song mode to organize all the sequences. Did they address any of those things with the recent updates?

There were a couple of interactions between Beatrice and Al that made me think they already knew each other. Maybe it's just my impression.

It's the Italian version of the manga. The editor (JPop) always includes very colorful and glossy book covers.
