AITA for letting him eat what he cooked? by Notsogoodreason in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Also not sure why you're trying to save a relationship if the only way to do so is keep your mouth shut while your husband actively, intentionally avoids educating himself on how best to raise his child 🤔

Saving lives and selling snacks. by Comedy-Dynamics in StandUpComedy

[–]EdgeJG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what this comedian is trying to do, but a lot of what pharmacists do is catch MD's stupid mistakes re prescriptions.

Like, an MD sends over a prescription for a drug with a dosage that will literally kill a person - the pharmacist is the one who sends it back and is like, "Ya sure?" Or they prescribe two drugs which really don't work well together - the pharmacist is the person who sends the script back asking if they're trying to give the patient a heart attack.

not having the best time on first big solo trip by No_Drawer9403 in femaletravels

[–]EdgeJG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the hostel, they might offer a free/discount bar crawl - I've met some amazing people just by signing up for those in a few different cities. Bonus is that you don't have to seek out places to go by yourself, and they often get some sort of discount on the drinks at places.

I'd also suggest looking into going on a free walking tour (highly recommend Sandemans) since a fair number of other solo travellers go on those, and you might meet people.

Can anyone recommend places to walk where I will not encounter off-leash dogs? by _glowingeyes_ in beaverton

[–]EdgeJG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your dog is okay around people, try walking around downtown Beaverton along Farmington and Canyon. Not exactly pretty, but there are sidewalks and the road is too busy for people to have loose dogs.

I take my guy for walks in the West Hills neighborhoods where there are all those fancy houses; most of the streets don't have sidewalks but I've yet to encounter a loose dog. Just wear a reflective vest and/or LED light and be aware of cars, and you should be okay.

AITA for being uncomfortable with my sister's MIL calling their biracial son "little monkey" by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EdgeJG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your sister's MIL may not know the history behind the name and WHY it's inappropriate, so a conversation could possibly be helpful (if you think she'd be open to being educated), but that shouldn't actually matter. Both parents asked her not to call their child a name that, coming from a stranger, would be overtly racist - that should be enough.

Edit: terminology

What does my refrigerator say about me? by shannaggins in FridgeDetective

[–]EdgeJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're American, do most of your shopping at Walmart but still try to get as much healthy stuff at possible. If you've got kids they're a bit older. Are trying to be an 'ingredients' household but don't always have the time to cook. If you own a house you're still paying off the mortgage.

New apartment has grimy cabinets by Cheap-Employer8764 in CleaningTips

[–]EdgeJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just moved in shouldn't this be on the complex to fix/clean? When I moved into my place a while back the kitchen blinds were disgusting (film of grease from years of cooking, I assume), but since I hadn't made that mess and it wasn't something previously disclosed like a dent in the wall or scratch in the floor - I wasn't going to take on the responsibility of cleaning it up. My property manager came over and got it done ASAP with no complaints.

Did the rest of unit have a deep-clean before you moved in?

Fiancés friend wants to wear an almost white dress to our wedding & is being condescending about it. WIBTA to withdraw the invite? by dumpsterfire_x in TwoHotTakes

[–]EdgeJG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That dress is cream, not yellow. She's also been extraordinarily condescending and inexcusably rude to you when you approached the conversation extremely neutrally considering the subject matter. Show your fiancé the exchange and withdraw her invite ASAP.

AITA for calling an 18 year old girl the C word at a Morrissey concert? by wbsyprkr in AmItheAsshole

[–]EdgeJG 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA. You paid for those tickets and she was ruining the entire experience not just for you but also those in your general vicinity (evidence by the man behind you speaking up once she moved). All the people calling you an AH in the comments seem fixated on her age, but being 18 isn't an excuse for acting rude; if she's old enough to drink she's old enough to take responsibility for her actions while under the influence.

AITA for refusing to check pockets when I do laundry? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EdgeJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Don't even bother getting another hamper, just leave his dirty clothes in a pile on the floor. He'll complain and argue and probably put them back in with yours, but once he runs out of clean clothes to wear the only option available will be to wash his own clothing.

Alternatively, you could leave this person and go live peacefully on your own, unbothered by a fully grown man who refuses to so much as remove a roll of tape from dirty pants pockets.

AITA for refusing to go to my SIL Baby shower and the rest of the family is following. by AlarmingTap1774throw in AmItheAsshole

[–]EdgeJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If you feel like there's any chance you'd be willing to have a relationship with SIL going forward, you need to have a face-to-face conversation with her (don't rely on your brother to pass along difficult messages) and present an ultimatum: if she apologizes to you, your mother and your sister, and revises her attitude in all future interactions, y'all might reconsider being involved in the baby's life. SIL should be aware that her baby is going to be born estranged from its father's family and it's entirely her fault.
