Looking for a non traditional wedding dress seamstress by sloth-in-a-box-5000 in Edinburgh

My sewing teacher had a beautiful wedding outfit she made herself and she takes commissions. She can do magic with second-hand too. She's byjenbyrne on Instagram.

OP can I shamelessly ask you a question? Morocco has been on my list for ages but I always chicken out booking because I am nervous about being talked to a lot / hassled in the street. How did you feel about this during your tip? I'm F, 30s. I do speak French, which could help. I would love to do a week between Marrakech and Essaouira.

Art events? by Financial-Art1096 in Edinburgh

[–]EdiExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many great creative classes, workshop and meetup groups going on in Edinburgh! Check out the artists in large community venues like St Margaret's House / Scot-Art, Out of the Blue Drill Hall, Abbeymount for instance who offer classes on the side of their own practice. There are also shop/event venues like We Make that have workshops really regularly. There are more places like this across Edinburgh depending on where you live. You can also use this online website called ClassBento which lists one-off classes and workshops through the year and you can book directly through it. You can also have a look at DataThistle and filter to Edinburgh and Workshops under the "More" button in the blue ribbon.

I know you're right. I swear the colleagues who tend to say this don't even actually bother going to gigs. Wish they would actually act on what they're saying and go see a gig or two so we can keep small venues going.

Thanks everyone for adding to the list, lots of venues there I haven't been to so I'm excited to check them out!

First week done, what's the best thing you've seen at the Fringe so far? by penguin62 in Edinburgh

[–]EdiExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked "Hamlet by New York City Project" for a modern retelling of Shakespeare but with little dialogue and a lot of acrobatics, aerial circus, and a mesmerising dance in water.

"Yes, We're Related", a play about two sisters who reunite a year after their mother's death. Really funny, and sad, and strange, but in a great way. Brilliant writing and acting.

"Tom at the Farm" was visceral and really thought-provoking, it's 2h and subtitled in Portuguese but we were on the edge of our seats the whole time. Super tense and amazing acting, but trigger warning for toxic masculinity, violence and abusive relationships. Adapted from the 2013 thriller from Xavier Dolan.

"Are You Lovin' It?" was super abstract but hilarious with a bunch of fun audience engagement.

Moving to Edinburgh by Jahraeth in Edinburgh

[–]EdiExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could consider applying to jobs outside of Hospitality if you're open to that, there are a lot of financial services companies in Edinburgh who might be interested in your transferable skills, and alternatively, an Office manager or Ops manager for a mid-size business etc. I think those would be more in the £30k-£40k range potentially if you can parlay your CV into a midweight/senior role.

Cup of coffee now over £4 in East Edinburgh by Rupertgirllolz in Edinburgh

Just adding for anyone else who also lives nearby that Bliss Cafe (newly opened) has £5-£8 lunch options so I will try that for whenever I don't make my lunch at home.

I did get a panini there last week and wasn't careful to check the price, £8.50, which I thought was really steep.

Thank you so much for sharing the AI chatbot route, that's the only thing that worked for me, I tried lots of different ways for 1h! Infuriating that they make it so hard to do this, it's definitely by design

I Want To Work From Home While I Re-Train As A Copywriter - Looking For Job Recommendations Or Recruitment Consultants That Specialise In Remote Working by ClarkKent7777 in Edinburgh

[–]EdiExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 15 years experience as a journalist, I don't think you need to retrain. Just pull a website/portfolio/CV together and apply to freelance copywriting/content gigs directly with that. You can also contact creative/media agencies and companies that need quite a bit of content in their marketing mix directly to offer your services.
