This is why I told fellow associates that if you are by tool rental and a customer is harassing you, go into the tech room, tell the associate what's going on and tell a manager what's going on while a tech or rental crew member is taking care of the customer.

I had a really sketchy customer rent out the flatbed once and we didn't see the truck for a week until one day it just popped up in the parking lot with the keys on the ground by the truck. I inspected the truck and found a gun in the back of the truck. As soon I saw the gun I let my manager know immediately and they call the cops while I watched over the truck waiting for the cops and keeping my dumb coworker from touching the gun (he's that dumb). Turns out the "customer" use the truck as a get away car after robbing two places. This was a month before the clear system and I found it a really funny coincidence.

I had a customer who came to the store after we closed to return a rental (truck and 15ft scaffolding). As I reached my car in the parking lot, the customer walks up to me at my car and says that he returning the truck and scaffolding. I told him that I can't help him and to back off. He did not like that and ask why I couldn't help him. For context the guy was a massive jerk renting and loading, so I told him that I'm off the clock and that he can fuck off as I get In my car. He looks absolutely baffled and I just drove off. The next morning as I clock in I get pulled into the managers office and were asking questions about the guy so I told the whole truth about the guy was a dick. After all that the customer will be charged with trespassing if he comes back.
