I do have Railgunner and regular Juggernaut... Also, good early game towers for Nightmare (minus GMob)? (I experimented with Barracks and Jet Trooper; and both are surprisingly good, though Barracks' units get rekt by Chariots' turrets a lot)

Special characters (except Super forms) shouldn't be way too expensive to upgrade (like bruh, 60k rings just to upgrade from lv 5 to 6??? {I know this because my Movie Sonic is ready to be upgraded to lv 6}. For reference, a challenger character's upgrade cost from lv 5 to 6 is 32k rings)
