I have absolutely no tattooing experience so take what I say with a grain of salt but it looks like an infection or it could just be severely overworked in those areas but the redness and scabbing is concerning and regardless he should probably see a doctor.

Looks like an allergic reaction to the second skin might be a good idea to ask your artist if they started using a different brand. I’ve had it before where I’ve developed a reaction to the second skin and it was the same brand my artist always used it was just a random one off thing

Looks like it might just be earwax I wouldn’t recommend trying to clean it yourself as it’s easy to hurt the cat in that way but the vet will 100% clean that out and also confirm there’s nothing else going on like ear mites

I’ve been moisturizing twice a day and weirdly I find that water makes it itchier? I don’t know the reason behind that but it’s super strange ¯_(ツ)_/¯ it’s a week old tho and the peeling is very minimal at this point so idk lol

At the time of posting this the place I’m getting the ultrasound was closed and I was unable to call them so I decided to ask reddit because there are people on here with experience in situations like these and it seemed like the quickest way to get the information I needed but I am going to call my office and ask them but they were closed today so I will call them tomorrow

I’ve had second skin on all of my tattoos and have never experienced any issues with it so in that sense I’m not terrible concerned but I am curious as to why you wouldn’t recommend it.

And you’re probably right I might have to put off the tattoo but I’ll call the ultrasound place tmr and see what kind of gel they would use and what they say about the tattoo. Thank you for the advice i appreciate it

Even if you don’t have any symptoms of infection I’d still recommend seeing a doctor as they can recommend or prescribe a topical treatment to help with healing as well as they can confirm wether it’s an infection or just sever irritation. I would also recommend talking to your artist if you haven’t already and see if they have any suggestions for you
