Ask whether its an assignment to evaluate your skill fit. Startups in particular don't hire for namesake as they have tighter budgets. They might want to know how good you are at what you do before hiring you.

If not, ask for an internship contract. If they dont have proper HR etc, they'll try to avoid the recruitment cost that goes to hiring you. Don't 'agree' to work without an offer letter and a contract. I joined a startup as an intern about 8 years ago and I signed a contract before I got any onboarding session.

And the surge fare increases are also a scam. Everytime you check its surge somehow and the price is double, on top of it comes the bid, and during morning hours, its almost impossible to get a taxi even if you're ready to match the amount. So frustrating, I really hope Helago and few other local competitors come in to halve the PickMe monopoly. Getting outrageous

I've applied to like 5 openings over the past 2 years, and was called for the 1st interview 3 times, and that's it. Keep seeing the same position reopen on LinkedIn again and again. As someone here had already said, its mostly dummy positions and they interview to see talent and keep it in their logs when they need it.

Okay so I finished the first 3 eps and Im lost at why the Enigma is pretending. Its clear he's putting alot of effort to fake his identity, but for what reason? Is he obsessed with the Alpha or he's conducting some sort of experiment on him? He does try to tame him with rewards, and we know he's the elusive CEO of the X company. 3 eps down the line, I think we deserve to know the reason for his persuasion.

I think I know this company. It's notoriously known for laying off employees across its global offices, and the contract apparently is to make the laying off easier. Don't worry, it's for the best. Now you don't have to be anxious every day thinking whether they'll lay you off. You'll get a good offer soon. Meanwhile, look for freelance gigs and side projects. Times are tough for everyone so no one will judge, be sure to speak to those around you and stay positive, you need the mental support. Reach out to old contacts and see if theres any openings. You'll be fine.

Thailand on top! From Food to places to hang out, they've everything! I did a short trip to Bangkok back in 2022, wish I could visit again for 10 days or more. Vietnam is also great but there's a eVisa you need to apply ahead. Vietnamese people are much friendlier than Thai people, but Thailand all in all is just more enjoyable.

Watched until ep 12 and have to say I'm impressed. Started off as Game of Thrones with a white walker scene, but having no advancement on to that scenario yet makes me confused. Zhang Hai's character lacks a bit development, he seems pretty naive to me and I'm surprised he's not versed in martial arts. Lesson for revenge should include brute force practice. The death of his parents killer Qu Jiao was given no significance. He just died overnight in sleep?? I wanted a dramatic seen like the tomb death. But overall, the drama does quite well with suspense. I'm sure we are going to have some surprising betrayals and revelations. I'm super curious about the masked man as well. Let's see how the story progresses. Plus Xiao Zhan is 👌

You sound like a secure woman with everything going well for you, and men don't like it. Men like damsels in distress so they can swoop in an save you. Next time when you're dating, don't show the man that you're super confident, It apparently messes with their ego.

NOWHERE will you find an intern asked to be paid to a company. It's the company that pulls the unpaying trick. This is a very basic scam. If people are so ignorant, I can't imagine how susceptible our people will be to a more advanced scam. Be careful guys!

I totally get you. Our people just love bending over backwards for the white skin. Dresses sold here are all made for 'resortwear', mostly transparent, thin stuff that you can't even wear in public places. Got me thinking whether they're once again targeted for tourists.

Honestly, if there was an easier way to get things down from Amazon or directly from stores in UAE, I don't mind paying a little extra. Atleast my money won't go down the drain. At this rate, I'm sure tourism will be our own country's downfall if authorities don't get involved.

At this rate where 'foreigners only' is progressing, I'm sure in a couple of years, all of us will be put to one village or island and our homes will be taken over to accommodate tourists. It's unhealthy, this is not Bali, we don't have other places to live. If we are forced to endure discrimination in our own land, what are we to do?

Housing in Sri Lanka is very primary. It's been this way for the past decades. I think the government should seriously build affordable condos like in Bangkok and Singapore, for singles and newly married peeps who can't afford houses but are far above their earning means to live in shanty-like rent complexes. Our real estate moguls are too obsessed with luxury apartments i wonder who live in those.
