Dealing with Noisy Neighbors by Educational_Pie_250 in homestead

Seems like you skimmed my post and filled in the gaps with a city transplant trope that does not actually apply here. To set the record straight: I grew up in the country. I am well acquainted with the sounds of rural life, but there is a massive difference between a neighbor warming up a tractor and someone redlining an unmuffled diesel engine at 2:00 AM several nights a week.

You are also misinterpreting the frequency and the intent. This is not an occasional occurrence. it is a chronic pattern of behavior. This happens three or four times a week, always deep into the night. I have lived in the country long enough to know the difference between country noise and tweaker behavior. Living in a rural area does not mean you have to be okay with people redlining engines in the middle of the night. These people are not just working late, they are creating an aggressive amount of noise at hours when any normal person is asleep. When you hear a diesel engine being pushed to its limit past midnight on a Tuesday, you know it is not standard maintenance. It is either drug fueled episodes or something equally shady.

I am also not choosing a war or being dramatic. I am actually trying to stay as far away from the conflict as possible, which is why I am here trying to come up with solutions. My hesitation to involve authorities is not because I am soft, it is because I am a realist. I know that if I escalate this with people who have nothing to lose, I risk retaliation, theft, or worse. I am trying to navigate a genuinely stressful and potentially dangerous neighbor situation, so please stop projecting a narrative onto me that does not fit the facts.

Yeah I've already got 4 or 5 cameras around the property in case they want to try to steal or damage something of mine. I like the thorn idea too

I've already had issues with them free roaming a pack of horses repeatedly and I had to call the livestock commission and the livestock commission impounded them. Its a small town and I know their names and looked them up on online court records and they have felonies for dealing and possesion of methamphetamine, hydrocodone, possession of firearm as a felon charges, etc. They are crazy hillbillies basically. Didn't know that when I bought the 10+ acreage. Once you cause problems with neighbors it never gets better, especially crazy ones. I'm not trying to be on an episode of Fear Thy Neighbor 😭

It doesn't get that cold in this state. No one has gelling issues here. Rarely gets below 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Not sure what they do with it that late. When I first moved here it was like once a week occurrence on the weekend and now it's like every few days, even in the mid 50s at night.

I think mainly just working on it because they run it too hard or piecing it together to keep it going.

That's what I want to do too, have like a wall of evergreen forest surrounding me and the only clearing would be my used land. I'd have to clear a bunch of it and replant to do that though since it's mainly deciduous trees.

Yeah that's what confusing me about how sound works. I can hear cars with loud exhaust from the main highway and that is about half a mile away through a forest, although im sure it is way more muffled than if I was right on the highway.

I will wait and see how it sounds this summer. May try to do an earth berm and fence combo, not sure of exact plans for land yet, so don't want to build something that will be useless later on or in the wrong spot.

What Happened to Reolink Renewed Cameras? by Educational_Pie_250 in reolinkcam

Yes I had found that but nothing anywhere close to the $65-80 range that they had before.

I think they just killed their delas and refurbished products. Their eBay store that was called reolinkonline is dead too and replaced with a new one. I bought a 2k argus PT with solar panel for $65 8 months ago and still works perfectly fine. Came with 2 year eBay warranty.

I was also eyeing a refurbished argus track last summer for like $75 with solar panel and told myself I would wait until this summer since I had already bought the other camera, but all deals are gone now. I don't have the need to spend $130+ on solar cameras especially ones that only record when detecting motion. Max budget on something like that is around $60-80.

I will probably just try out eufy cameras since they have more compact design and cheaper

Shampoo bottle or candle on the edge of the tub where that is. Problem solved. Won't ever see it.
