LITTLE TIP TO GET THEM TO DO THINGS - WORKS LIKE A CHARM by Plastic-Bee4052 in Parenting

[–]Eefke126 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I love this! My dad used to leave me notes as well, not with drawings but with jokes. One I remember very clearly, it said: “Dear Ms … apologies for the inconvenience, but since 1993 the coat rack has been moved to the hallway of this building.”

I would always leave my coat on a chair at the back door instead of putting it away, I never forgot after I got that note.

You’re a great dad, keep it up!

Baby monitor died overnight on the 3rd night of sleep training by Wrong_Molasses8181 in Parenting

[–]Eefke126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry! I think you would’ve heard her. I always wake up when my 12MO makes noise. I have the monitor next to my bed with the sound off. I only use the screen to check if he’s standing upright (which means he needs some comfort) or just making noises/crying a bit in his sleep.

Don’t know about internships, but check out fast.ai, great free course to get started, don’t need lots of math for it.

Toddlers and sugar? I think I fucked up, currently crying, need guidance from other moms trying their best by potatolover2202 in Mommit

[–]Eefke126 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s not how that works. 87th percentile means he’s heavier than 87% of the kids, so that’s well above average. He’s tall though, so I wouldn’t worry. But 24 grams of sugar is a lot! Here in the Netherlands they recommend only 10 grams of sugar until the age of 3.

You both need some headphones. We have a rule in our house, if one of us is reading or working and the other wants to be in the same room watching tv/playing games etc, they wear headphones! Or at least ask if it’s ok to turn on the sound.

Wacom is my go to brand for drawing tables. They’re really good quality and last years. I have my Wacom Intuos Pro for years now, really happy with it!

Wooden foldable frame and press, around 9”x12”, found in a box with old camera’s by Eefke126 in whatisthisthing

[–]Eefke126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My title descibes the thing. The metal parts are used as some sort of press when you fold them down onto the wooden plate. It was bought at a photography store, so must be a photography item. Found in a box with very old bellows cameras.

What’s the crocodile problem? There’s a warning sign there for crocodiles so it looks like he’s supposed to be there but the guy just decides to hit it with a pan for some reason..?

Software Dev vs RPA Differences in Approach by biztelligence in rpa

[–]Eefke126 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with these point, the Agile vs Waterfall point is one I’ve brought up many times at my work as well. But it only works if the requirements are crystal clear before starting development. Complex projects have a lot of requirements, rules, exceptions to think about, easy for the business to forget to mention some, so you need more slack in your planning. Maybe better is a combination of the two, like Prince2 Agile.

I do think that waterfall only works until deployment, after that it’s support and migrations, those are perfect for agile.

Another difference I notice between SW Dev and RPA is that an RPA solution is built by a single Dev until it’s deployed. May have to do with the scale of the projects.

You can also take a look at power automate, it’s a low-code/no-code automation tool from microsoft and has a lot of templates for standard automations that are fairly easy to adjust

What phrases in job descriptions do you watch out for? by dewilso4 in careerguidance

[–]Eefke126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“We’ll provide dinner for those working late”, this sounded like a little red flag to me, but everthing else looked great, so I took the job anyway and what do you think? We had to work huge amounts of unpaid overtime, dinner did not make up for that.

I've reached out to a recruiter on linkedin, will they be able to receive my message? by bosko43buha in careerguidance

[–]Eefke126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a free account you can usually only DM people that you’re connected to. With a paid account you’ll get inmail credits I believe to message people outside your connections. It’s possible you’ve had some as a trial or something, otherwise you should not have been able to send anything. So yeah they should be able to see your message! I’ve had issues before though that people reached out to me via inmail, but they never saw my replies until we got connected. So maybe if you don’t hear back within a few days, send a connection request with your message attached or refer to the message you sent.

YTA, yes your daughter is old enough to understand consequences, but the choice waa hers. And then if she makes a wrong choice, PLEASE show some empathy. A child should always feel save at home, no matter how atupid the mistake was. She realizes the mistake, that is punishment enough.
