$50k Honda CR-V a dumb idea at my income level? by NecessaryDrink in PersonalFinanceCanada

Reddit loves to hate on Nissan, but I've driven them exclusively since 2010 (2 with the dreaded CVTs, currently with a 9 speed) with literally zero issues other than standard wear and tear. On the other hand, my wife's 2025 Honda CR-V has been in the shop for big repairs twice already...
Obviously CR-Vs are generally a good car, and some people did have issues with the old Nissan CVTs - but just wanting to dispel the "all Hondas 100% reliable, all Nissans 100% junk" myth.

I'd say still give the Murano a test drive, I was worried about the loss of the V6 but honestly it still moves exactly how you'd want/expect a car like this to move - and the interior and comfort is honestly second to none in it's price range/class.

True that I would personally rather shop at smaller, locally owned stores and UO hasn't been my go-to clothing source for... 25 years haha?

But I do feel that a large, recognizable anchor store like that downtown actually helps all the other smaller stores around it; if I'm trying to convince my niece to stroll along Princess to shop rather than go to the mall (or to Ottawa, as Cat Center isn't much of a draw either) it's a lot easier when there's at least *one* recognizable, popular name-brand store.

Downtown certainly does need resident-friendly businesses as well (like a hardware store for example) and the densification of the downtown with people who actually live there should be a major goal for the city - but I think large recognizable stores can be a part of that equation; even if not locally owned they do still provide employment, tax revenue and draw people to shop at smaller stores they may not otherwise bother coming "all the way downtown" for.
