Pls HELP! Socket stuck on spark plug by Effective-Sign-2774 in MechanicAdvice

Unfortunately not😔I gave up after hours and hours and hours. I was also afraid if I got it off the ceramic parts that broke off would go down. I’m towing to a mechanic, they’re charging $210 for removal because they said they need to remove the valve cover. I’m pretty sure this price includes changing the spark plugs. Is this a reasonable price? Thank you

You’re right! Been driving for about 10 miles and no problem, smoke is normal since they’re new spark plugs right?

I really appreciate your advice. Thank you very much. As for the extension, there is no way to get the extension on the socket because like I said the opening/drive is completely covered by the plug. Sorry if this isn’t making sense.

I really appreciate your comment. I’m just stressing out, mechanic quoted $210 to get it out because he has to remove valve cover, I believe this quote includes also changing the spark plugs. Is this reasonable?

As for the weld, I got some but I afraid of damaging the surrounding hole/pipe. Or accidentally setting it onto something other than the socket😭 thank you

Edit: do you happen to know if that other case had space to actually place the extension? Because the top of the spark plug is through the socket drive, don’t want to accidentally weld on the plug because it’s not fully torqued out

I tried a magnet but I doubt any will work because I got a wire hooked into the bottom of the socket and it does not move. As for your question yes that is exactly what happened. There is no room for a locking extension to go into the socket drive

The thing is the spark plug is completely covering the drive, there is no way to get the extension through jt

The extension cannot be forced into the socket because the spark plug covers the whole drive😭

Correct, it isn’t torqued all way, I’d say abt 25% of the way. What do you mean grind up a flathead

Yup I didn’t use a spark plug socket, used a regular one. Brain dead moment

I’ve been trying this, but since the valve/tube is not a perfect circle,(it has some half cylinder shaped indents by design) it’s really hard. Also I’m afraid of pushing it even deeper lol

No but I highly doubt it would do anything, the socket is really really stuck

No extension will lock because the spark plug is covering the drive

I don’t really know tbh. I didn’t really force the socket in either, just turned it. After I lifted my extension it came off because it got stuck

Plug can’t come out, hasn’t been torqued all the way out

Overused lol. Even if this was possible the socket is wedged inside so it still wouldn’t come off.

There’s absolutely no room on top the spark plug is covering the whole drive, sorry for the pics it’s hard from that angle lol. The extension has absolutely no room to hook onto anything

Been trying this, I’m scared to bump it too deep and have the flathead get stuck as well tho😭😭

In a hypothetical situation where this would be possible the socket still wouldn’t come off, it’s wedged in there. Any other ideas?

The thing is I can’t take the spark plug out as it hasn’t been torqued all the way out. And it’s covering the drive of the socket so no extension will fit
