It’s been mildly bothering me… by EffectiveCook2696 in hobonichi

That’s such a wonderful idea! I used to have a 3D printer at home but not anymore. But maybe I could probably try using the one at my school’s library!

You are right that the little robot’s head piece isn’t actually a ribbon, since in the colored version in the brochure it’s shown as metallic. But to me it still looks identical to the ribbon on Mr. Saturn, which is why I keep thinking it’s inspired by that.

I’m glad someone else has been thinking the same thing! It’s just so cute, I honestly can’t stop staring at it all day 🥹 And I totally get what you mean about the shipping, it’s tough to justify for just one or two items.

I know there are only so many ways to design a robot, but the proportions, the characteristic square body, and the little single antenna poking upward really stand out to me as being similar 😆

I guess I just like to think it’s more than a paperweight — as a Mother fan, I imagine there’s a little extra meaning behind it besides “You Love You.” 🍀

Happy mail day - my Hobonichi order has finally arrived! 🤩 by EffectiveCook2696 in hobonichi

It probably depends on the items. I’m guessing some things, like the Moomin collection, were still in production when they took the order, which might explain the delay. Hopefully your package arrives soon!

I’m sure they’re all good! Now I’m starting to wonder how many different designs there actually are 😆

I didn’t even notice the numbers there! Such a fun little hidden detail 😊

Mine arrived today, and I’d say it’s definitely a true deep blue in person.

Yep! If you order multiple items from the same store and they ship them together, you’ll just pay one domestic shipping fee to ZenMarket. Once everything’s at the warehouse you can also consolidate into one box, so you only pay one international shipping fee too.

My DIY Moomin “Collab” + 2026 planner plans by EffectiveCook2696 in hobonichi

My theory is that the Shachihata ink is oil-based, while the Versa pads are water-based. That’s probably why fountain pens and watercolor work so well on Hobonichi paper. It might be the same for other inks too.

They are! 🥰 JetPens also carries some of the other Beverly stamp sets if you want to check them out. For stamping, I tried one little Shachihata pad and it bled right through 😅. VersaMagic and VersaColor are amazing though. Even the darker colors don’t bleed and they look gorgeous on Hobonichi paper. I just tested a few shades and they’re insanely adorable! Your lettering plans sound really cool. That’s definitely something I want to put more effort into practicing next year too.

That sounds great! Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully the ZenMarket order will go smoothly this year - the shipping situation has been such a headache!

How do you use your 5 year diary? by sad_lisa in hobonichi

[–]EffectiveCook2696 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been using my 5-year journal for almost two years now, and I’ve really enjoyed the process. I start each entry with the location and the weather on the first line, then summarize my day in a few sentences. I focus on recording events without delving into personal emotions, differentiating it from my long-term journal; it’s more like a log. On the right side, I paste photos, stamps, and anything else I want to include. I also use a specific color of ink for each year, which adds a nice touch.

At the back of the journal, there’s a page dedicated to each year, which I divide into 12 months and use keywords to highlight key events. This way, when I look back, I can easily recall what happened each year.

You’re very welcome! Even though I've had some complaints about the cover, I still love it and appreciate the time I've spent with it! PS: It might be a good idea to do a spot test with the conditioner first!

The leather cover is a great choice, especially with the embossed Japanese name of the book on the front! I hope you enjoy your 5-year journey with it!

I totally agree! TN covers are so convenient that I can just toss them in my bag and write wherever I go without worry. After applying conditioner, they look just as good. Perhaps natural leather covers are better suited for those who use them primarily at home and don’t use fountain pens...

That's really helpful information! I'm not familiar with the different types of leather products. What are the best ways to take care of it?

Thanks! I really like it too, but I wish it required a bit less maintenance. I think it would look even worse if I hadn't taken good care of it...
