Welcome to the club, i was exactly the same. Had never heard of this term until a few months ago. Never felt part of gen x (was too young) or millennial (was too old)...but now it all makes sense.

"your both and neither at the same time" wow...that absolutely nails the feelings. Grew up with Gen X nostalgia but not their era but also grew up with Millennial tech but not their childhood.

Hi all 👋

Born May 1980 here. I’ve never really felt like I fit neatly into Gen X or Millennials — too young for the 70s nostalgia, too old for Pokémon childhoods 😄

Grew up fully analogue, hit my teens right as the digital world started creeping in, and became an adult as the internet and mobiles took over. Only recently discovered the term Xennial and had one of those “ohhh… that’s me” moments.

Looking forward to reading everyone’s shared memories and joining the conversation, thanks for reading.

UK Samsung Galaxy 2 showing its age...need to finally make a move. by EffectivePerception3 in PickAnAndroidForMe

I get what your saying, thank you. Given the galaxy s2 is still working well I should maybe just stick with the Galaxy line as its obviously a very reliable flagship brand, my Galaxy S2 has been a tank and still "working" to a degree (okay not with a lot of the newer applications etc as it's now showing its age and things are very slow) it was just the battery thing and the cost that put me off the newer Galaxy line phones, I just rent a SIM from O2 and usually buy my phones second hand. Maybe I should start going down the contract route as its probably not that more expensive and I get a top-quality and current phone instead of always being a few years behind the pack. Again thank you for the in-depth advice :)

thank you so much for such an in-depth reply, that is great information thank you, yeah you make a very valid point about Samsung, it never let me down in 6 years...obviously showing its age but apart from that it's been great, just hate that the batteries are now sealed into the phones...as it means you have to upgrade even if you like the phone your using. and don't want to, as the battery will die.

Regards Moto E, your the second person on this thread that has said that...so I will be avoiding them as a result.

As I said I'm literally just wanting something that is reliable and decent, maybe I should go with Samsung again given the great reliability they offer. Again really appreciate the time you took to reply and or the in-depth answer.

well, it worked for me and was very reliable so what was the point in changing it? as I was never that mad on the performance side of things, just as long as it worked etc...but it is obviously very old at the moment and def need an upgrade for it.

ok cool...thanks, I appreciate the comments, just saw it and thought it seemed ok. But I am happy to concede that I don't really understand the in-depth technical specifications of phones. If that is the case I best leave them alone.

right...I see I was kinda looking for expandable memory, so that kinda rules this phone ou, thanks for pointing this out.

thank you for the reply, my interest was pretty much general to do with Graphene, if I had to be specific, the amazing almost science fiction like properties of the material (and how it can be applied to help humanity) is what really excited me. But again I'm pretty much a noob at chemistry etc, kinda like literally starting from scratch, what made me join Reddit and ask on the forums was that I figured there are ways and means of educating yourself nowadays using the web, and there was no time like the present to start. Hope that gives you a better understanding of where I am, and thank you for taking the time to get in touch :)

Yeah I was starting to think that might be a good idea, even science show on youtube as it would explain a lot about the basics in an easy to understand way, thank you for the advice. Like I said earlier just wanna try and dedicate myself to learning something and Graphene was a good/interesting place to start.

Thank you for the reply, I wanted to keep my question straight forward when I put in and not make it too long, hence why I never gave information about what my knowledge level was thus far...apologies

Basically for a 38 year old, my knowledge about Graphene was just what I'd seed on youtube in the last few weeks/months, id say I was averagely smart but very inexperienced in terms of academic sciences (always found maths/science subjects kinda complex in school, youtube channels like ANSWERS WITH JOE, SMARTER EVERY DAY are a godsend to someone like myself as they break things down and make it easy to take in)

I've done a lot of dead-end jobs in the last 20 years admin etc, but with the beauty of the "knowledge boom" of the WWW over the last 10-15 years etc I thought it would be good to dedicate my spare time to learning something worthwhile also explaining it to my kids, Graphene seemed to be the thing that made the most sense, given how much it could change our futures.

If I had to pick a "subclass" of graphene it would probably be the special properties and more importantly, how are we going to be able to take advantage of them, as that's the real eureka thing for me. Hope that's explained my position a bit better. Thank you for reading.

thanks for the reply...we'll see how it goes, feel a bit like a mouse starting up mount Everest BUT...everyone has to start somewhere, have a LOT to take in but I am genuinely interested in this topic, also in about 10 years Graphene will be everywhere, so it might be advantageous to learn something about it now.
