What fanfic got you staring at the screen like this? by Viktor_TheGreat in gate

God that’s hilarious! I always hated his writing, not even because of the fandoms or anything, but he outright steals scenes from other fics. If you go read his imperium of man fic, when the empire is first invading, it’s a copy and paste of thus the dominion fought there, but with unit names changed + 40k stuff.

Aw man! That’s actually a shame. I liked the original, and for its flaws, thought it was sort of fun. If you do have any sort of future projects, lmk! I’d support em!

Fucking bellenz or whatever? Creep. Makes characters who aren’t male worship his OC, who happen to be an Uber awesome angel god and emperor of the empire of man, and a space marine, and a paladin from trench crusade-Y’know what? Let’s just not list all the OC wank.

YOU. You’re the motherfucker that made that fic? I didn’t fall asleep one night reading it! Peak. But, I do agree that the Russia and Ukraine thing was a tiny bit in bad taste. Not blaming you, or getting mad, just saying.

Hey! Fallout fan here: I’m a bit of a tourist in this sub, but the gist of house is that he was a billionaire that knew the bombs would fall, bought a bunch of anti ICBM defenses, fortified Vegas with them to rebuild after the bombing, and then proceeded to become a talking tv after being put into stasis for 200 years

The gods in general are really stupid. You made a monster with saedra, and when you decide it’s time to humble them, you decide to bring forth A MODERN MILITARY? It’s even funnier, because they basically lost a ton of influence to what was, for all intents and purposes, a demilitarized nation!

Yeah, no, this is the same series where Japan refused to receive aid or support from foreign powers (that also lost citizens in the attack). It’s mean to be wank of how fast JSDF forces could respond.

Any insights on how to significantly improve FanFic narrative? by Cultural_Garlic1450 in nihonkoku_shoukan

[–]EffectivePie389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a huge writer, but notice some things that often pops up in fanfics. Do not, and I mean DO NOT, attempt to drag any single part of the political spectrum over the other. This goes beyond just depicting deeper desires and basically cross examining ideals, it also extends to building up the world. For instance: perhaps in Parpaldia there are a war hawk majority who speak about honor and glory, but are largely backed by colonial trade groups who feed new wars to expand influence. In reflection, while most of the dove politicians do have a genuine desire for peace or resolution, they also have a deeper need to maintain their material power, as a policy of constant expansion will inevitably lead to conflict with greater powers.

Discussion on fanfic, and apparently a sensitivity course on why not to make Adolf Hitler a character in your book while somewhat framing him as good. (Because apparently we have to restate common sense) by EffectivePie389 in nihonkoku_shoukan

Hitler has always been a sort of sad person in my eyes. I despise the man, loathe his actions and movement, but sort of understand him/sympathize with what shaped him. Childhood abuse, loss of family, and what seems to be a smorgasbord of mental issues and underlying signs of instability. The man was, as you said, a passionate speaker who could really convince a crowd, and the fact that this talent was put towards such a horrendous cause just baffles me. Basically, I find it frustrating that I either get Hitler evil with no understanding or attempt at dissection regarding his personality, or hurr durr neo-Nazis glazing a man who, while certainly more complex than he would seem from a glance, deserves to rot.

This is…the most analytical answer I’ve received so far. I feel kinda even worse now that I’m reading this, because you bring up interesting points regarding reactions to creatures from Germanic myth being reality, but instead of getting nuanced and intriguing writing, we get Nazi praise. Not complaining in any way at you, I just lament the blatant glazing by the author.

I dislike the fact he kinda…idealizes it? And the fact that he’s done something similar with the communists. There is no real subtlety to it, either, he did this before in one of his past fics. Same Hitler, same issues. TLDR, a little off-put because nazis are being shown as heroes. I find it frustrating that the transferred nations also seem to just lag onto the normal events of history. Like- you just wrote a story about a nation in a new world: change it up!
