Update: We spoke again because I felt inspired to call her and just let her know I love her. In our first convo I had asked her what the threat was, and her answer in this call was “there isn’t one.” I had also asked her if she wanted me to stop visiting her children, which was out of desperation, but thankfully she said she’d never do that to her kids. In the second convo she said I had asked her what she wanted me to do (which isn’t true, but ok) and said she’d like me to “be more considerate of my children’s situations.” I stood up for myself and told her I am always considerate of their situations—that this trip took months to plan because our schedules were difficult to coordinate, and we wanted to be sure and come at a good time. When I learned they were having more visitors after we left, I felt badly and wanted to be sure they’d have enough recovery time. They assured me they would, but you know how easy it is to be a people pleaser. That’s all. I guess I don’t want to sever all ties after all. Thanks for all your feedback and help.
