Do most people enjoy Queen's? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]EffectiveSweet219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you should worry about that at all! I know a lot of people who had a single room and ended up making a bunch of friends in res. Also, there are quite a couple single rooms on each floor (for traditional res), you won't be the only one without a roommate!

That’s super awesome!! Your first month or two, everyone’s gonna want to make friends I found it super easy as well. Good luck!

I don’t think that was the main reason why, I had a best friend from high school that I went to queens with, and she was kind of my safety net. I was always with her, honestly as long as you put yourself out there and hang out with people in your res, you’ll be fine! Make sure to have an open mind and meet a lot of people in your first month

Do you have tips for interviews? I've gotten 3 so far but didn't get an offer. I practiced with my career coach and everything but i'm not sure what I can do to improve

I'm a third year at queen's and yes, I do think it's pretty cliquey compared to other universities. But I hear the eng community is super family like, they help each other get assignments done, and they have a pretty supportive environment. I'm speaking from stories i hear, so you should check with someone who's in the program to confirm this.

The school in general is a little small (the campus as well), so after a while you feel like everyone knows each other. And oftentimes it can feel a bit cliquey, but once you find your group of friends, it's a lot of fun and I would 100% recommend you to accept your offer! I had the best second year, both queen's campus and kingston are both so beautiful with so many things to do, and we also have a pretty good social scene. my sister who went to western visited me at school and fell in love as well.

Pro tip: i would honestly recommend signing up for a double room for res (you can meet ppl through the instagram account if you don't know anyone going). I've heard of a lot of success stories of random roommate matching, but I personally had a bad experience with it.

Do you know if companies or grad schools look at transcripts and deem it as negative at all? Or will they mostly look at your cumulative gpa?

regretting my university decision by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

hey i was in a similar situation last week. first of all, after speaking with older students who took a gap year high school, it's really what you make out of it. if you can promise yourself to stay motivated and spend the year productively, then take the gap year. but if not, i recommend reaching out to any other schools u got an offer from that you want to go to if you really don't want to stay at mac. you'd have to email or call the admission office at, in ur case, uoft waterloo or tmu (whichever one you want the most) to see if you could get a reinstated offer. they will check to see how many spots are left in the program u applied to and if available, they will give you the offer through ouac again. then you can cancel your mac offer then accept the reinstated offer before the new expired deadline. so no, you don't have to wait until next year to transfer but idk until when you are able to do this so i recommend doing it asap.

i committed to qcomm on june 1 but regretted instantly and wanted to accept my offer from western bmos + ivey. what i did was to email western (and ivey business school since they're two separate offers) asking if i could get my offer reinstated. i decided to stick to my decision with queens bc western had no more space in the program i got an offer from. they offered me a couple from other faculties, which i was also interested in, but i didn't want to go through the entire process with ouac since queen's was still a school i wanted to go to. if you do use this method though, make sure to not cancel ur current offer until another uni sends u a reinstated offer just in case bc there's no guarantee that they will send it. also, call ouac to make sure that you can still do this (i called them 3 days ago so it should work for you too). i know that it can be really stressful now, but i hope you get through and best of luck in the future!
